BlackBerry changes profile

The company BlackBerry is now far from the best of times. True, the company's general manager, John Chen, managed to pull BlackBerry out of the financial hole, where the manufacturer of smartphones of the same name got after a series of unsuccessful projects. Nevertheless, there are still many obstacles to the revival.

Currently, Vedomosti writes , the market share of BlackBerry in the smartphone market does not exceed 1%. Since 2013, when John Chen was appointed to the post of CEO of the company, BlackBerry released five models of smartphones, the management even managed to get a small quarterly profit. But the company's revenue is gradually falling, and in the last fiscal quarter, revenue amounted to $ 793 million, which is a third less than the same period last year.

In order to change the situation and improve financial performance, the CEO of the company is going to give priority to the sale of software and the provision of services to corporate clients. BlackBerry is gradually moving in this direction - now the company offers customers several software products that allow companies to control the smartphones of their employees, while being compatible with iOS and Android OS. Another product protects company communications from listening and intercepting data.

The company’s management hopes that by 2016 BlackBerry’s revenue will grow to $ 500 million through new offers. However, financial analysts do not share this view.

However, so far, BlackBerry is working quite successfully, continuing to sell its smartphones. So, the company managed to conclude several partnership agreements with the largest mobile operators in the USA, Verizon and AT&T, which distribute Passport and Classic models.
