Launch of Google Auto service in Russia
Just a few hours ago, Google announced the launch of its operating system for Android Auto cars, available in 18 countries, whose list proudly includes Russia. This was reported by developers in the Android microblog.
For Android Auto to work, the driver will need a smartphone with Android OS 5.0 Lollipop or higher, as well as a compatible on-board computer. The smartphone connects to the computer via the USB port, and a special OS is launched on the screen in the car: with it, you can view notifications received on the phone, make calls, use the navigator, select music and launch some other applications available on Android.
A complete and current list of vehicles that have support for Auto technology is on the main page.of the project, however, at the moment it is not known which of them are available for purchase in Russia: mainly we are talking about new models.
In addition to embedded on-board computers, Android Auto also supports third-party radio from two manufacturers: Pioneer and Kenwood, which also support Apple's CarPlay.
