Tunnel Modeling - Version 0.9
This post uses an attempt to enter the measurement of terms in a spherical coordinate system.
The concepts of abstractness, phases of activity, as well as groups and periods of complexity are introduced.
Describes the graphical notation for modeling, based on the proposed selection of groups of terms.
1. Spherical worldview model
Hans Jürgen Eisenck developed a coordinate system for measuring the psychological characteristics of a person, consisting of scales of extraversion, neuroticism and psychotism.
These scales are used in psychological tests to determine the type of human temperament, as well as in tests for measuring the coefficient of intelligence.
Such a measurement system can be considered a three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, and, therefore, it is possible to switch from Cartesian coordinates to polar.
Fig. 1 Relationship between Cartesian and polar coordinates
In this coordinate system, this article will not use the distance from the center of the coordinate system, but will use the angle between the point and the horizontal plane passing through the center (similar to latitude in the geographic coordinates of the Earth), and the angle of projection onto the horizontal plane (similar to longitude in the geographic coordinates of the Earth).
For the obtained scales of spherical coordinates, we introduce the following
units:
- the abstraction corresponding to longitude, expressed as a percentage, and assuming a value of 0% for the lower pole, 100% for the upper pole, and 50% for the point located on the circle formed by the intersection of the sphere and the horizontal plane;
- the phase corresponding to longitude, expressed as a percentage, increasing in the clockwise direction and assuming a value of 0%, as well as 100% for the bisector between the positive direction of the neurotic axis and the negative direction of the extroversion axis (introversion)
We expand this spherical coordinate system on a plane, as was done in the manufacture of the first maps of the Earth (a cylindrical projection of the Mercator). In this case, the upper and lower poles turn into horizontal lines. Fig. 2 Polar coordinates with selected regions The author investigated the possibility of using the obtained coordinate system to determine the numerical values of the terms of domain modeling techniques, in particular, the common SADT and UML methods, and positive results were obtained.
2. Periodic table of difficulty
As the list of analyzed terms expanded, there was a need to highlight new horizontal levels on the abstract scale, in which a grouping by type of sigmoid phase was revealed. Fig. 3 Complication in the form of a sigmoid chain. For individual elements of complication (by analogy with the periodic table of chemical elements of D.I. Mendeleev), the use of the terms group of complexity and period of complexity is proposed. Difficulty periods are shown in Figure 3. The following explanation is proposed to highlight them:
- the preparatory stage is characterized by the needs of compensation of
disturbances from the previous level; - the development stage is associated with the appearance of positive feedback stimulating development;
- the stabilization stage is associated with the appearance of negative feedback that limits development;
- - the conservation phase is characterized by a stable existence, and is not included in separate groupings of terms.
At present, three groups of complexity of modeling terms are distinguished. Complexity groups symmetrically extend from the upper and lower poles.
At the same time, the correspondence of groups and periods with subjects of university education is proposed (Table 1).
Table 1.
Suggested Classification of Educational Subjects
Group | Period | Abstract | Specific |
Random | Stabilization | Logics | The quantum physics |
Items | Training | Maths | Physics |
Development | Philosophy | Chemistry
Stabilization | Cultural studies | Biology
The processes | Training | Political science | Psychology |
Development | Management | Sociology
Stabilization | Marketing | Economy
Society | Training | Public relations | Synergetics |
Development | Quality control | Technology |
For the period of “development” of the “random” group, the terms future for abstract and past for concrete are proposed .
2. Graphical primitives of tunnel modeling
To display the level of complexity, a notation system is proposed, based on the labels on the left side of the rectangular modeling element. For designations, the use of pairs of triangles is proposed. Triangles in a pair can have a filled and not filled state, which allows you to use an analog binary code.
To build block diagrams of programs, you must also have elements for branching and looping operations. These elements are shown in Figures 5 and 6. Figure 5 Modeling the choice of two alternatives Figure 6. Cycle modeling Phases corresponding to the elements of the Deming-Shugart cycle -Act-Plan-Do-Check- are indicated by special symbols on the right side of the rectangle of the modeling element . Figure 7. Elements of the Deming-Shuhart cycle
The main customizable modeling element contains a menu that allows you to select image features. Fig. 8. The rectangle view settings menu. The image type is refined by sequential refinement according to the groups of menu items:
- abstractness
- group of difficulty
- period of difficulty
- Deming-Shuhart cycle element
Both rectangles and arrows can be subjected to hierarchical decomposition . 9. Presentation of decomposition arrows. The remaining elements can be borrowed from established modeling techniques - UML, SADT, BPMN, DRAGON, Archimate.
4. The proposal for the projection of being on the worldview
When considering the spherical model, a paradox arises between the complexity of the central region and the "lack of space" to display this complexity.
To explain this discrepancy, we can assume a hyperbolic dependence of complexity with distance from the poles.
Figure 10 illustrates this view:
Figure 10. The projection of being onto the world of worldview
Given the promising areas, it is possible to propose an extension of the classification of Auguste Comte's sciences taking into account the symmetrical dualism of Rene Descartes.
