Corbina almost built

Corbina Telecom has completed the main phase of the construction of a broadband access network in Moscow. Out of 180 thousand subscribers that the company intended to connect by the end of the year, within the framework of the Home Internet project, it managed to reach about 120 thousand.

Accordingly, plans to reach 90% of the capital’s residential buildings are also not realized - instead of the planned 27 thousand buildings, Corbina connected 20 thousand of its network (average communication speed - 1.3 Gbit / s). According to Alexander Malis, senior vice president of the company, the operator was prevented by bureaucratic obstacles. Failed to negotiate with local housing offices, reports "Vedomosti"but the leadership of Corbina is going to resolve all these issues in the next two years. Currently, the company’s fiber optic network (4,500 km) covers 97 of 119 districts of Moscow.

One way or another, Corbina’s achievements recorded more than a six-fold increase in the subscriber base over the year - last December she had only about 18 thousand people. This is taking into account the fact that the current year is characterized by a slowdown in the growth of broadband connections - in the market as a whole, taking into account the connections of both ADSL and Ethernet providers. Thus, J'son & Partners analysts promise the Moscow market of the “home broadband” 45% growth with a volume of $ 195 million this year. Recall, according to their forecasts, the number of broadband connections in the capital should be about 1020 thousand, i.e. 26% of all households.

This year, the provider spent $ 42 million on the Home Internet project. In 2007, investments will amount to $ 25 million, and 300,000 Internet users are expected to serve. By 2009, they want to increase their number to 500,000.

The company management expects that these investments will pay off in three years. So far, the average bill per subscriber (ARPU) is $ 20.2 per month. Obviously, the indicator will increase when the triple play services, on which the provider makes the main bet, are fully introduced. These services are the sale of Internet access, television and telephony in a single package. The company's immediate plans include the launch of IP-television (March 2007) and high-definition television (HDTV) with a picture resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and Dolby 5.1 multi-channel surround sound.

Another priority area of Corbina in 2007-2008 will be development in the regions. It is planned to build a broadband access network in 12 European cities of Russia. “In 2007, Corbina Telecom will focus on entering the regions and beginning the active promotion of IP-telephony and IP-television,” says Dmitry Malov, vice president of the company.
