DietPi 10.2: Update for ARM, RISC-V and x86_64 with Immich and uv

The DietPi 10.2 release from March 2026 expands support for ARM, RISC-V, and x86_64 platforms. This Debian 12 Bookworm-based distro is designed for minimal resource consumption: average image size is 130 MB. It supports over 50 models, including Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, NanoPi, BananaPi, BeagleBone Black, Rock64, Rock Pi, Quartz64, Pine64, Asus Tinker, Odroid, and VisionFive 2. Utilities like DietPi-Software, DietPi-Config, DietPi-Backup, DietPi-Ramlog, DietPi-Services, and DietPi-Update provide a whiptail-based console interface with support for automated installations.

New Additions to the Software Catalog

DietPi 10.2 adds:

  • Immich — high-performance self-hosted solution for photo and video storage.
  • Immich Machine Learning — ML server for Immich with facial recognition and CLIP vector search.
  • uv — Rust-based Python project and package manager.
  • RustDesk Client — remote access client compatible with RustDesk Server.

These tools integrate seamlessly through DietPi-Software without extra dependencies.

Tooling and Configuration Updates

DietPi-Benchmark has been moved to /boot/dietpi/dietpi-benchmark. The Servarr script has been renamed to dietpi-servarr_to_ram with Prowlarr support and symlink protection. DietPi-Config now offers an option to select CPU temperature sensor paths for sysfs-incompatible platforms — the parameter is available in dietpi.txt.

Software installation is improved: new menu for selecting desktop environments and a config parameter for pre-installing a DE on first boot.

Compatibility and Migration

Minimum base is Debian 12 Bookworm. Debian 11 Bullseye systems are migrated to the compatibility branch with an upgrade recommendation. Direct upgrades to 10.0+ are possible from 8.0. Older versions require a stepwise transition.
