/e/OS 3.6 Release: De-Googled Android 16 Platform for 287 Smartphones

The mobile OS /e/OS 3.6 launched in April 2026. It's a LineageOS fork stripped of Google services, with a strong focus on data privacy. It supports 287 models, including new builds for OnePlus, Fairphone, Teracube, and Pixels under the Murena brand.

Base and Privacy

/e/OS 3.6 is built on AOSP 16 (March 2026) with patches from LineageOS 23. Google telemetry has been removed: no connections to their servers for network checks, DNS resolution, or time synchronization. Instead of DNS 8.8.8.8, it uses provider servers; NTP comes from NTP Pool.

The microG package replaces Google services: UnifiedNlp handles geolocation via Wi-Fi and cell towers (BeaconDB, OpenWlanMap, OpenCellID). Search is powered by Murena Find, based on Qwant and a Searx fork with query anonymization.

The default browser includes an ad and tracker blocker. Synchronization works through a Nextcloud-compatible service running on open-source software.

Unified authentication via [email protected] for all services, accessible through the Web. Murena Cloud offers 1 GB free for backups and synchronization.
