Smartphone for Firefox OS goes on sale for $ 33 (in India)

Mozilla proudly announced the start of sales of its Cloud FX smartphone running Firefox OS. Intex Technologies' smartphone is available to customers exclusively through Snapdeal.com at a price of 1999 rupees ($ 33).

The dual-SIM smartphone is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, a 3.5-inch display, a 1 GHz processor, a 1250 mAh battery, and Bluetooth. The package does not include headphones and flash card. Several games, Facebook and Twitter applications are preinstalled on the phone. Naturally, all applications are written in HTML5.

Cloud FX is the first smartphone under Firefox OS, which is sold in India and generally in Asia. Mozilla makes a big bet on emerging markets and soon promises to establish sales of smartphones, including in Russia (at least, there were such plans before).

“Positive feedback from users in other countries says that people like the unique experience and openness that we offer in Firefox OS,” Mozilla said in an official statement. “Firefox OS devices in the ultra-low price range will set a new framework for entry-level smartphones.”
