Autodesk Won't Sell Software to Sanctioned Companies

The company the Autodesk , a major developer of software for the automation of architectural and engineering design (including its products - a well-known tool for two-dimensional design Autocad), asked the Russian partners to stop the supply of software products and updates to some Russian companies, according to the newspaper "Vedomosti".

The list of companies indicated in the Autodesk letter is broadly consistent with the U.S. Treasury sanction list. As he writesCNews, who got acquainted with the contents of the document: this is Almaz-Antey Corporation, Kalashnikov Concern, Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET), the manufacturer of ammunition for the ground forces, the Air Force and Navy FSUE Bazalt, the Tula Instrument Design Bureau, Investkapitalbank, OAO Izhmash, VPK NPO Mashinostroyeniya, Sozvezdie concern, Stroygazmontazh, Stroytransgaz, Transoil, IK Abros (subsidiary of Rossiya Bank), NPK Uralvagonzavod, transport company Sakhatrans ”and Theodosia oil terminal.

Autodesk products are used not only in construction, but also in the oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical industries, as well as in mechanical engineering, including in the military-industrial complex. Engineering is gradually moving to three-dimensional design; for this industry, the loss of Autodesk products will be less sensitive than for construction or oil and gas design.

Other large American and European software manufacturers can follow Autodesk’s example, experts say, for example, Microsoft and SAP. Their representatives do not comment on this.
