Highscreen Omega Prime S - there are never too many colors

Many of you probably know Highscreen products. Some people like the products, others do not. However, it is worth recognizing that it is quite high-quality and looks good, even if the design is not unique, but time-tested and pleasing to the eye. Yes, and it is worth noting that the build quality and performance are at a fairly high level. But today we are not conducting a general review of Highscreen technology, but we will draw your attention to a specific model, namely Omega Prime S. A typical representative of the devices of this manufacturer with a couple of interesting "chips" that many will like.

In my opinion, it is worth making a digression and saying that because of the huge amount of advertising, many users have a negative attitude towards this manufacturer, but this is somewhat biased, because the products are really good and can withstand competition with many brands from the same price category. And the brand’s official is, who do you think? You will never guess, because this is Nikita Dzhigurda! Yes, this shocking person advertises Highscreen smartphones . Well, now let's go directly to the new product.

    ▌PACKING AND PACKAGING

Omega Prime S comes in a very stylish box. I don’t know who came up with such a design, but it is quite original and attractive, although, frankly, simple. The material of the box is recycled and tightly pressed cardboard without any coloring. Just cardboard. On the front side of the box is a sectional view of the device, and some technical information about it, just above the company logo and the name of the device.

On all four side faces of the box in splendid isolation is the black logo of the manufacturer, and only the name of the device in red color makes him company.

On the back of the box is the good news, and to be specific, the owner of this device is provided with free of charge, that is, for free, 32 Gigabytes of 4SYNC cloud storage. In my opinion, a very nice bonus. The company logo and the name of the device are located on the back side at the top, below is a bar code and a QR code, having read that, you will be redirected to the manufacturer’s website.

A rather pleasant box design immediately creates a good impression and tunes in a positive wave, and the absence of unnecessary details makes it possible to focus on the main thing. Well, now look at the contents of the box.

And inside the box under the lid in the plastic box lies the device itself. In general, Prime S is wrapped in a plastic bag, but I took the bag off for photogenicity.

The first feature of this device is a complete set. In addition to the standard USB cable, charger, headphones and warranty card with instructions, there are three more removable covers: red, yellow and white. The manufacturer itself positions this smartphone as a "chameleon". Now, if you began to bother your phone, you can just change the cover. For girls, this is very important, because now you can choose the color of the cap to your dress well, or vice versa.

Now let's talk in more detail about the configuration, let's start with the charger, headphones and a USB cable. All components are packaged in bags to avoid mechanical damage, and the headphones and USB cable are additionally wrapped in polyethylene for greater compactness.

The length of the USB cable is quite large, so there should not be any inconvenience with the use. Headphones are ordinary tablets, the sound is very mediocre, but quite acceptable.

Now dwell on the caps. It's no secret that many manufacturers have resorted to such solutions. Someone made devices in a pile of different colors, someone sold additional covers separately. Yes, a couple of years ago I met devices with interchangeable covers in the kit, but for some reason they always adhered to the same color scheme and differed only in the pattern. So Highscreen brought something new and fresh to the mobile device market. As I said, three caps are supplied with the Omega Prime S. All of them are made of high-quality plastic, and even after many replacements for the covers, the locks on them remain quite tight.

It is worth noting that in fact there are only two colors of covers: black and white. This is due to the available colors of plastic, the rest of the covers are covered with multi-colored varnish or something like that, so you need to be careful and try not to scratch the yellow and red covers.

Initially, a protective film with some information about the device is pasted on the screen of the device.

If you pull the white strip, then this film will peel off, and below it is another, completely transparent, protective film.

Most likely, this was done due to the fact that the manufacturer saved on the protection of the display. But, in my opinion, this is not a drawback, because many people stick the film on the screen to protect it from scratches and extend the freshness of the device.

Most of the front edge of the smartphone is a large, 4.7-inch display. Thanks to OGS technology and the use of IPS matrix, the display almost merges with the side frames and creates a solid effect.

Above the display in the upper left corner is a front camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels, to the right is a light sensor, and in the middle is a speaker for conversations.

Touch control buttons, as is customary in the company, are located outside the main screen. They are somewhat non-standard for devices on Android, but in general they look pretty good. True, there is one caveat, the buttons do not give any information about what they do.

The right side got only the unlock / power button.

On the left is the volume button. This form factor is standard, so there is nothing special about the location of the mechanical buttons.

On the upper edge of the Omega Prime S is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and to the right is a microUSB jack. This means that when charging is connected, talking on a smartphone is not convenient - the cable interferes.

On the bottom edge a small hole was hidden under the microphone.

Now look at the back of the device. The edges of the lid are rounded, so that the device is comfortable to hold in your hand. There are no extra elements on the back of the Omega Prime S, only everything you need.

In the upper left corner is the main camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels, and next to the flash LED.

The company logo is applied at the bottom, and the hole for the speaker is located below.

Now remove the cover. Let's go from top to bottom.

At the very top we see two slots for microSIM and a slot for microSD.

The main part is occupied by a large but flat battery of 1780 mAh.

    Below is a small speaker.

There are no complaints about assembly and quality in general. Nothing backlash, no creaks, all boards are covered with plastic, which is mounted on small screws.
In general, I liked the design of the smartphone, I did not cause enthusiasm, but I liked it. Prime S, despite the small display, is conveniently in the hand, the control buttons are located directly under the fingers, so it is very easy to operate the phone with one hand. The small thickness, only 6.9 mm, and the weight, only 100 grams also give convenience (I initially thought that it was without a battery, so it was so light. But no, I opened the cover and saw that everything was in place).

    ▌ DISPLAY

Omega Prime S is equipped with a 4.7 inch touch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The screen is bright enough, but in sunny weather to discern something on it becomes difficult. True, this drawback applies to other Highscreen devices. It is also worth saying that the film is glued to the display, therefore, the matrix is not protected by reliable Gorilla Glass. The display supports multi-touch up to 5 touches, and is also equipped with a light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness of the screen for external lighting.

IPS-matrix gives natural colors and decent viewing angles. The general feeling is that the panel is of medium quality, excellent sensitivity and good color reproduction.

In general, the display leaves only positive emotions, the only thing that I did not like was its small brightness.

    ▌CAMERAS

Omega Prime S has two cameras: front and main. The resolution of the front camera is 2 megapixels, suitable only for Skype, no more.

The resolution of the main camera is 8 megapixels. The pictures are very good, no more. All settings are familiar, you can deal with the options in two ways.

There are functions familiar to modern smartphones - HDR mode, the option of creating panoramic images, focus on touch, adding geotags.

    ▌ SOFTWARE PLATFORM

Prime 4.3 comes preloaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean without any significant additions. Even the menu background remained black, although many manufacturers are replacing it with the desktop background. But no one bothers to put another launcher with a set of icons.

Of the pre-installed applications, it is worth highlighting a flashlight, file manager and 4SYNC cloud storage.

By and large, there is nothing interesting here. Everything is standard, everything is normal, but it’s even good. Severity OSes supports the overall rigor of the device.

    ▌ WIRELESS NETWORKS

Of course, Omega Prime S is equipped with a Wi-Fi and GPS module, and also supports the standard of 3G cellular networks.
Let's start with the Wi-Fi module. He made me extremely happy. It catches a large number of networks, the signal is good and stable. Test to confirm this.
This is next to the router.

    It is on the street.

Now let's move on to the GPS module. Supports GLONASS. Satellites are in a matter of seconds, while navigating the device does not lose them. By the way, sometimes he even sees the Beidou Chinese navigation system.

Omega Prime S allows you to use two SIM-cards.

Both SIM cards work stably, without interruptions. For all the time using the phone, there were no problems with wireless modules.

    ▌ PRODUCTIVITY

The Omega Prime S has a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8212 processor with a frequency of 1200 MHz, a pair of Adreno 302 graphics chip goes to it. This couple provides quite acceptable performance. Not to say that the device produces stunning results, but this is quite enough for the average user. But why do we need empty words? Let's look at the test results.

As I said, the performance is not too good, but acceptable. Now let's look specifically at the processor performance. But the result is quite predictable.

Despite the fairly good computing frequency and four cores, the processor produces not very good performance. Things are not better with graphics performance.

Summing up, we can say that performance is not the ridge of this device, from which we can conclude that this unit is more of a "workhorse" rather than a multimedia center.

But this is all theory, so let's move on to practice. In games, the device behaves well done, although it starts to bask from the strain. But you can play dynamic games. DEAD TARGET - A good first-person shooter on android, with a crowd of scary monsters.

In the "runners" the device shows itself on the good side, though it is warming well. Running shadow- A combination of runner and RPG in the fantasy genre. The game combines the simple game mechanics inherent in this genre and a mystical plot full of intrigue and mystery. Well, here the graphics are not very good, so the device soon cooled down.

In games, Omega Prime S behaves quite acceptable. As I said, this device is for the most part intended for work, not for games.

    ▌BATTERY, CHARGING, OPERATION TIME

The Omega Prime S has a lithium-ion battery. Not the most durable solution, which, however, is not displayed on the device’s operating time. For two days, the device holds a charge calmly, but if you call, surf the Internet and so on, if you play, then enough for a day.

There is also a special BatteryGuru program that helps to more efficiently consume battery power. There are a lot of settings in the flesh and at what time to allow applications to be updated.

    ▌ CONCLUSION

Having walked almost two weeks with the Omega Prime S, I can say with confidence that Highscreen did a great job. Outwardly, the phone looks strictly, which, in my opinion, makes it only more attractive. Taking the phone in hand, I do not want to release it. This is facilitated by the low weight and small thickness of the case. If you get tired of Prime S, then you can “refresh” it by changing the cover to a brighter one. Although performance is not a strong point of this device, this device is enough for work and everyday use. And the price of this smartphone is not too biting, so many will like the Prime S.
