On May 16, the storage seminar “Storage Technologies and Storage Systems for SMB Customers” starts

    In February this year, on the basis of the training center (CC) of the MUK group of companies (Kiev), the unique seminar “Technologies and storage systems for SMB customers” was developed at the MUK CC . Specialists in the field of pre-sale training (presales) were trained, working with customers from the small and medium business category in data storage systems (SHD). Since the market offers solutions from several key manufacturers of storage systems at once, the knowledge and practical skills acquired by the students were not tied to a specific manufacturer.

    On the contrary, a comparative analysis of the actual product families from various companies was carried out for the participants, and on its basis optimal solutions were formed for customers according to the stated requirements. Participants emphasized the importance of gaining personal interaction skills with customers. Their development is included in the program of each day of the seminar and is most pronounced on the last day of training, when the creation and protection of the project to the customer is modeled in team work mode.

    The seminar is held in two modules, two days each. In order to minimize the impact on the participants' work schedule, it was found that the second day of each module is held on Saturdays. It is tentatively planned that the group will start on May 16, continue their studies on May 17, and then complete their studies on May 23-24 *.



    Practical classes were fully provided with equipment installed in the laboratories of the training center. Under cat reviews and a detailed program.

    10:00 Technology SnapShot, SnapClone, SmartClone. Examples of their use. Where and to which categories of customers such technologies are needed.
    11:30 Remote Data Replication Technologies. Examples of configurations based on these technologies. Examples of designing disaster-resilient solutions.

    14:00 Review of mid-range V7000 storage from IBM. Arguments to bring customer attention to the V7000.
    15:00 Overview of mid-range VNX 5x00 storage from EMC. Characteristic differences between VNX and similar systems of other vendors.
    16:00 Review of HP 3PAR StoreServ Mid-Range Storage, the HP StoreVirtual 4000 (formerly known as LeftHand) from HP. Niches for their use in the domestic market.

    Day 3.
    10:00 Data backup systems. Theory of Effective Execution “Backup”.
    12:00 Overview of tape storage technologies. Familiarity with LTO and DAT devices. Areas of their application.
    13:00 Lunch break
    14:00 How to make a sizing decision that implements data backup.
    15:00 How to properly size the storage system. Frequently encountered questions and situations that pre-sale specialists (presales) have to deal with.

    Day 4.
    From 10:00 to 13:00 Business team game with the study of real situations that arise when working with customers:
    - Removing TK from the customer.
    - Work with objections when communicating with customers.
    - Protection of the project proposed to the customer using storage systems.
    13:00 Analysis of the results. Awarding the best team, questions and answers.
