Briefly about the new: Samsung released the 840 EVO - the world's first 1 TB mSATA SSD

Last week, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of a new line of new 840 EVO mSATA SSDs, including the world's first terabyte mSATA SSD.

Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSDs are an extension of the 840 EVO line, which was introduced this July as part of the Samsung SSD Global Summit. The new SSDs are enclosed in the compact mSATA form factor, which is about a quarter the size of a standard 2.5-inch SSD drive, with equal volumes and performance levels.

Samsung 840 EVO uses proprietary microchips NAND flash memory (128 Gb), built on the basis of those. 10 nm process class. SSDs are 3.85 mm thick (approximately 40% less than a standard HDD) and weigh 8.5 grams (12 times lighter than a regular hard drive).

The new compact line of solid state drives consists of models of 120, 250, 500 and 1000 GB. The 1 TB version is capable of performing up to 98,000 I / O operations per second (IOPS) in random read mode and up to 90,000 operations in write mode. The speed of sequential read and write data is 540 and 520 MB / s, respectively.

Like the previous 2.5-inch SSD series, the new drives have the proprietary multi-core MEX controller and support TurboWrite technology. In addition, 256-bit keys for AES data encryption are supported, which meets the requirements of the TCG Opal and IEEE 1667 specifications.

A new series of Samsung 840 EVO SSDs will be available worldwide this month. The price of new items is still unknown.
