Clear, cheeky and affordable. Highscreen Alpha R Review

When a modern person chooses a smartphone, he first thinks about the platform (iOS, Android, WindowsPhone), then - about the manufacturer, then - about the stuffing of the device. So, choosing "a piece of paper" - you always run the risk of running into a pig in a poke. And if you choose with your eyes? I do not mean the design of the device, it is of course important. I mean - the display.

Smartphone Highscreen Alpha R with a display size of 5 inches has a resolution of 1080 * 1920 and a matrix made by IPS technology. So what does that mean? This means excellent picture quality and excellent image clarity. In addition, the Alpha R comes with two batteries. And this means that jokes about the outlet can be forgotten.
    Well, let's begin?

    Equipment

Traditional for Highscreen brown box with a description of the main characteristics of the device.

Inside the box there is a charger, a headset, a USB cable, a 2000 mAh battery, a 4000 mAh battery, two covers (respectively), a smartphone itself.

Just want to talk about batteries. With a standard (2000 mAh) battery, the device looks very elegant and modern. The thickness is 9.3 mm. It lies nicely in the hand, and the weight of 156 grams is almost perfect (there is no feeling of a toy in the hand).

If, in the pursuit of autonomy, put a high-capacity battery, thereby increasing the thickness (up to 14 mm) and weight (up to 204 grams) of the smartphone - it turns into a fat man. However, at the same time it still lies well in the hand, and the autonomy obtained from this is worth it.

This is how a 4000 mAh battery sticks out of the case.

The cover is made elegantly, gently beating the “hernia” from doubled time.

Of course, the elegance of the body is not the same, however, to call the Alpha R a brick - the language does not turn. A shovel who loves to eat. So: with a 2000 mAh battery we have 3.5 hours of screen operation (2-2.5 days of operation), and with a 4000 mAh battery - 5 hours (4 days of work!). For me it’s so good! You can take two batteries on a business trip and not think about the outlet.

Separately, I want to note the unreasonable location of the power button (or charging connector?). No, I'm not talking about the fact that the microUSB connector is on the upper end. This is just the same as usual. I mean that it is very close to the unlock button (on). When the smartphone is charging, then unlock it oh how inconvenient. Fortunately, it is often not necessary to charge it;)

On the left side - only the volume rocker. On the right side - generally empty. The graceful line of the case is a really good designer refinement.

Again I want to return to the display. Excellent IPS matrix. 5 inches. Resolution FullHD. So much loved by PPI marketers here is 441.

Viewing angles - it seems to me that they are almost maximum, but there are exactly 178 degrees. Brightness - the range is large. From "almost invisible" to "burn my eyes." Just kidding, of course. But all is very, very good. In addition, there is no air gap between the sensor and the display - which means that you practically touch the screen. Very nice for the eyes and fingers.

    Sensor - 5-touch multitouch. It’s a little frustrating, although I don’t remember when I needed more.

The call speaker and earpiece are good. The sound is nice. Not very loud, but not wheezing.
About the cameras I can only say that they are and everything is fine with them. Nothing outstanding.

    Filling

The processor here is 4 nuclear MediaTek MT6589T (1500 MHz) - this is a “turbocharged” processor. The standard 6589 has a frequency of 1200 MHz.
RAM 1 GB. And that's bad. With such a screen, of course, I immediately want to watch a movie, play games and enjoy the graphics system. And if the processor and graphics system here allow, then RAM is sometimes not enough. Minimized games close. Fortunately, there are no problems with the video.
The internal memory is also not enough (only 4 GB), however. There is a slot for a memory card and it helps a lot. Indeed, in 2013, 4 GB can be scored with just one game.
The performance of all this in synthetic tests is as follows: The

operating system is not the latest. Android Jelly Bean (4.2.1). For those interested, it ruts.
    Almost no add-ons. It's good.
The work with two SIM cards is usually well done. Each can be given a name and color.

    conclusions

Very good display, excellent battery life, nice design, good build. Not the coolest stuffing, not enough operational and built-in memory, awkward appearance when installing an enlarged battery. The main thing is that if you choose a smartphone for everyday use, do not chase ultra-cool features, value your eyesight and save energy - I recommend Highscreen Alpha R for purchase. Moreover, the price starts from 11,800 rubles.
If you look at competitors, it will be either dear comrades from the highest echelon, or shoulder blades that are no longer in the hand, or, as an alternative, devices “before lunch”. The choice, as always, is yours.
