As promised earlier, the CyanogenMod installer left the closed beta stage and appeared on the Google Play store - you can download it here . It’s too early to finally rejoice - only the Google Nexus and Samsung Galaxy families are supported, as well as HTC One (a full list of devices ).

The meaning of the mod is probably known to everyone, however, it is worth repeating that CyanogenMod is “an improved version of Android, with many new features and advanced applications, a safer messenger and an improved program for photo and video shooting. The value of the mod is also in the fact that it allows you to install the latest versions of Android on old devices that are forgotten and abandoned by manufacturers. CyanogenMod is literally Android with a human face ”(via alizar ).

The usual firmware of an Android device is a relatively complicated operation, whereas in this case - using a published installer - it is greatly simplified and consists of the following steps:
    • install the installer on a smartphone
    • Install an auxiliary application on a computer - Vista, 7th and 8th versions of Windows are indicated as supported platforms; OSX version is expected soon
    • follow the instructions on the smartphone

Traditionally, developers are asked not to forget about data backups, use a high-quality USB cable and literally not touch the phone during a flashing. The complete installation wiki can be viewed here .
