Technology does not stand still, but the Internet is not yet available in all parts of the world. In the summer (hiking, summer cottages and vacations) this can be a serious problem.
REG.RU is the first among the domain registrars of Russia to present an integrated system of SMS services that allows it to be more “mobile” in all senses of the word and carry out the usual actions in the most convenient and safe way.
Services developed by the registrar can be divided into three groups:
1. SMS-services,
2. SMS-notifications,
3. SMS-confirmations.
The first group “SMS Services” consists of two services with the spoken names SMS-Whois and SMS-REG.
SMS-Whois allows you to get Whois information about a specific domain name in a specific zone (available for 10 zones: .РФ, .RU, .SU, .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .MOBI, .TV ), and check the domain name immediately in 9 zones (.RU, .SU, .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .MOBI, .TV.). In the first case, you should specify a domain of the form yourdomain.com, in the second - yourdomain. If you need to check multiple domains, you will have to send several SMS messages.
The service is available to all Russian mobile operators and in order to use it, you need to send an SMS to +7 903 580 1111.
SMS is sent to the same number for operational domain registration - SMS-REG registration service. Unlike the previous one, this service is available only to REG.RU customers. The SMS-REG registration service must be activated from the Personal Account on the company’s website, indicating the number of the mobile device from which the domain (s) will be registered using SMS like r yourdomain.com. Now you can register domains without having an Internet connection. Payment for registration is automatically debited from the personal account, so there should be a sufficient amount of money on it.
“SMS-notifications” are available exclusively for Russian telecom operators and include four complementary services:
1. On reaching the balance threshold - when activating your phone number, indicating a certain “threshold” amount on your personal account, in the future the user will receive an SMS reminder about the need to replenish the balance. In addition, the balance can be found by sending “bal” or “balance” to the same number +7 903 580 11 11.
2. About renewing domains - 5 days before the expiration of the registration period for domain names that are on the REG's personal account. RU, he will be sent an SMS reminder indicating the number of such domains.
3. On the extension of other services - similarly to the previous paragraph, 5 days before the expiration of the service period (hosting, VPS, Dedicated), an SMS is sent to the user.
4. About the expiration of the SSL certificate - in this case, an SMS reminder arrives 14 days before the expiration of the term.
It is worth noting that all of the listed services are connected and provided free of charge.
“SMS confirmation” can also be called a SMS-security system from REG.RU.
For example, the updated system of entering the Personal Account, when it is required to enter a unique code received via SMS, in the special form “Confirmation Code” on the REG.RU website, eliminates the risk of accidental or intentional hacking of the account.
The registrar’s retail clients, who are domain administrators in .RU / .SU / .РФ zones, can use the service of changing DNS servers on a domain name, which will help protect the domain name from malicious actions (domain loss, spam, and others). The scheme is the same: a unique code arrives in the SMS to the phone number specified when activating the service, which must be entered into the “Confirmation code” form.
REG.RU partners, using the SMS confirmation system, can transfer the domain to another account in the safest mode, following the same scheme (unique code in SMS and a special form in which it must be entered).
