Questions about the game maiden, work and community

At yesterday's meeting of Unity lovers in St. Petersburg , a topic that greatly surprised me was raised. It turns out young / beginner igrodely do not know or even do not represent
    • Who in the city is developing games and how to get a job with them
    • Where does the community live, where to go with questions, how to learn how to make games

Let's try to at least partially understand the issue.

Who in the city is developing games and how to get a job with them

You can start with everyone your favorite DTF . Not all information is current and fresh, but there is already a starting point. Additionally, it makes sense to go through vacancies at the same DTF - at the same time, calculate expanding (i.e. potentially salary-attractive) companies.

Well ... Google to help :)
... plus, if you want, we can jointly create a list of relevant gamedev companies in St. Petersburg or other cities (Russia). Want to?

Where does the community live, where to go with questions, how to learn how to make games

Of course, once again they decided that there was no community, and everyone was sitting in their corners, there are children and bored, adults and sad there. It’s unusual for me with my somewhat western mentality. Well, okay.

To my taste, the most lively communication about algorithms, technologies and general questions takes place in unity3d.ru skype chat . Plus, the Unity circle channel, closedcircles.com, is growing rapidly, developing and has a number of advantages (for example, logs come with morning mail). The local unity3d hub is beautiful and useful.

For news and snack communication, I would suggest unity3d.ru skype chat

If I’m wrong somewhere, if there is something better, welcome in the comment. No rights to habrakomment? Write to Skype chat or even directly to me at oleg@unity3d.com
