Reporting from InterSystems Global Summit 2013
The next InterSystems Global Summit 2013 was held from April 7 to 11 in Orlando, Florida. This annual event brings together hundreds of InterSystems developers and partners from around the world. Within the framework of the summit, InterSystems top management announces the results of the company's work for the year, lectures and seminars with hands-out are held on the latest and best practices in working with InterSystems technologies. Under the cut is a small photo report from InterSystems Global Summit 2013.
A place
The event was held at the 5-star Peabody Hotel, Orlando, Florida, USA. The hotel easily accommodates 1000+ visitors, and is perfect for large-scale corporate meetings as well as for tropical vacations.
Partners
The partners of the summit this year were such companies as IBM, HP, SuSe, Symantec, J2 Interactive and many others - a complete list can be seen here .
Among the exhibitor partners was the Russian company Letograph , a provider of cloud solutions for workflow of any complexity.
Content
Within the framework of the event, lectures, practical seminars, team trainings and sales training were held, which were held simultaneously in 8 halls. Practical seminars were held on the following topics:
Mobile applications
- testing the new InterSystems Zen Mobile javascript framework for creating mobile applications;
- development of mobile applications using InterSystems REST-API, JSON and javascript frameworks;
- resolving security issues when developing mobile applications.
BI and Big Data
- complex cases of building data warehouses in BI technology InterSystems DeepSee;
- new UI building capabilities for DeepSee cubes;
- Resolve performance issues for working with large volumes of data in DeepSee.
Application Deployment and Administration
- performance monitoring;
- high availability solution InterSystems Database mirroring;
- minimization of time costs when updating versions of Caché, Ensemble;
- change management for team development projects at Caché, Ensemble, Healthshare foundation, automatic assembly of test builds, test driven development.
Connected HealthShare
- healthcare integration solutions;
- use of DeepSee BI in healthcare solutions;
- Work with HL7, IHE and CDA standards.

Engineers of the Australian and Canadian InterSystems offices Sergey Shutov and Anton Umnikov are studying with interest the new book on M-technologies in Russian “MUMPS DBMS” Evgenia Karataeva.

Cultural and entertainment program
From the entertainment program, I remembered a trip to Universal Park, which the company booked only for visitors to the summit. Engineers from all over the world enthusiastically tested the strength of the roller coaster, SpiderMan, and other entertainment designs. None of the engineers and structures were injured)
Victory
And it’s very nice to inform you that in 2013 the team from KhAI, led by Leshchenko Alexander Borisovich, won the international competition for student projects Worldwide Student Programming Cometition and earned a prize of $ 10 thousand for himself and for the institute.
The leader of the development team, Andrew Hook, personally received a prize from Robert Nagle, InterSystems vice president of software development.
On this festive note I complete my report. I would like to wish our students the same success next year, and the InterSystems partners in the CIS to expand their presence at the next InterSystems Global Summit 2014.
