Suggest.io: for people with requests

Suggest.io's live search continues to improve.

Major updates:

• 1. Due to the increase in the number of users, small changes have been made to the registration / indexing of newly connected sites. Now indexing begins after installing the code in the site page templates. The progress of indexing can be observed from your personal account.
• 2. A system of personal accounts has been introduced - now you can customize the appearance of search items, configure the issuance of search queries, including pictures in the results.

In the future, a large number of additional functionality will appear in your account.

Personal Area.

Authorization is needed for those who want to change the default settings of the system and in the future use all the emerging features.

Authorization is currently supported through Mozilla Persona.



In your account, you can add all your sites to further customize the Suggest.io search.

To work with the settings, you must pass verification. After adding a domain, the system will offer to download a small .txt file - it should be downloaded to the root directory of your website. After Suggest.io checks for the file, you can proceed to the settings.

Personalized settings.

Search results settings.

Now in the search results you can configure the display of images from the pages of your site.
The function is configured from the Suggest.io settings panel.



To link illustrations to pages, you must add a tag to the page containing the address of the main image for the page.

Please note that it is necessary to replace the content of the “content” attribute with the actual addresses of the pictures.
The tag format complies with the Open Graph protocol specification, and may already be used on your site to interact with other search and syndication systems. After adding a new tag to the site templates, you need to return to the Suggest.io admin panel and enable the issuance of images, and then start reindexing the site.

An alternative way is to add an attribute for tags that point to the main image of the page class="sio-search-image".



The behavior of search results in the presence of illustrations is configured here. For example, do not quote text from the page if a picture is displayed.

Changes to the search engine and indexer

Fixed:

• Partial or complete loss of search functions on the site when nodes drop out in the Suggest.io cluster.
• Incorrect site crawl with some complex designs in robots.txt. Rewritten parser robots.txt.
• Incorrect page deduplication with the active use of long repeating text structures (hidden through display: none).
• Long delay when adding a new site to the Suggest.io system.

Additionally:

• Improved handling of unclosed php tags on rendered pages.
• Automatic correction of incorrect links like " habr.rf / page " "/% С0% C1 / something", i.e. when incomplete percent / punicode coding of links is performed.
• Accelerated search, improved stability and fixed another hundred less significant problems.
