Management of building engineering systems using solutions based on Bolid + SCADA Algorithm equipment

    This short note will be useful to people involved in the automation of engineering systems (IP) of buildings and structures. I noticed that there are people on the site who are aware of the Bolid company and its integrated security systems - Orion. But just recently, I found out. That ISO "Orion" is not the only rich development. It turns out that comrades from the glorious city of Korolev developed their SCADA and controller for automating the building's IP. In brief I would like to tell you about them in this article.



    Instead of the Disclaimer:
    I’ll say right away that the post is not advertising and I don’t have an intention to promote Bolid, it’s just that this company offers very popular solutions in the security systems market, and it’s a sin to confront myself regularly with it in my projects. Therefore, I decided that the information may be interesting to specialists. True, to be honest, the knowledge in this matter is very superficial and in this article I first of all just want to inform you about the existence of SCADA from Bolid, the post does not in any way claim the status of a tutorial.
    “Background” does not carry technical information, rather the emotional part. If someone does not have a “dull” mood, then you will not lose anything without reading.

    Background:
    It all started when my colleague and I visited the Hi-Tech Building 2012 exhibition, where our attention was attracted by the Bolide pavilion, or rather not the entire pavilion (because it was not interesting in itself, due to the lack of free chocolates), but only one of the walls of this pavilion.
    On which the monitors were spinning, something provoking at the same time the desire to “tear out one's eye” and curiosity.

    As soon as my colleague and I approached the booth with SCADA, an enthusiastic specialist of the company ran up to us and told us about this software product, especially proud that the fans on the mimic circuit rotate thanks to gif animation.

    My colleague and I were so moved that we considered it a duty of the samurai to attend a free seminar on “Managing Building Engineering Equipment”

    The seminar certainly left mixed feelings. For one thing, it's free and useful. On the other hand, the endless repetition of the same information about equipment and solutions, SCADA Alogritm itself was shown briefly for about three minutes at the very end.
    As a summary of the seminar - I think if it’s interesting for someone to go to get information, it’s quite possible (in the end you will be treated to a cookie during the break)

    Equipment and its application:

    I will talk in approximately the same order as they told at the seminar, which I mentioned above.

    The seminar began with a story about the S2000-PP device

    This device is a protocol converter from Orion to Modbus / TD.
    Using the converter, you can either read information about the status of devices in ISO Orion, or send commands to Orion system equipment, for example, on the Signal-20 device close the relay responsible for activating the Siren. You can read more on the website.

    The next block of the seminar was dedicated to the C2000-T controller.

    The S2000-T technological controller allows you to control the following processes:
    supply and exhaust ventilation, air conditioning, hot water supply, heating, steam
    humidification, and any other process that you can configure yourself.
    The device is sold in two forms of “mole rat” factors (only LEDs for indication) and with an LCD operator panel.
    The heart of this device is the PIC controller (My colleague Drzugrik and I remembered for a long time ... I think PIC16 stands there)
    A special pride of the specialists is the niche occupied by this controller. It is supposed to use this controller as a budget mid-range solution, with advanced configuration functions and scant features for programming.
    For the controller there is a set of standard configurations, which is periodically updated.
    As a second option, it is proposed to program the response of the device to events in the system using a system of conditional structures.
    Also, the device has a control function according to the PID control law.
    The controller is certified as a measuring tool.

    In 2013, they promise to upgrade the device to version 2.0. One of the “chips” of this firmware should be the ability to logically combine two controllers into one.

    A temperature and humidity sensor for the ISO Orion system was also proposed to use analog heat detectors as temperature sensors at the seminar.

    Address controller for meters of water, electricity, gas with
    pulse output. It’s a counter in Africa as well, it allows you to integrate the readings of water or electricity meters into the Orion system. Link to the website.

    Using equipment.

    With the help of C2000-T, you can assemble an autonomous automatic control system.
    It is assumed that C2000-KDL is connected to the controller, address sensors and relay blocks of the Orion system are connected to “KDL”. Also, other S2000-T controllers can be connected to the controller in Slave mode, which will execute their algorithms. The system has many limitations, for example, the controller will not pull more than one C2000-KDL, well, this controller only works with SCADA Algorithm.

    I must say right away that I did not seriously bother with this program, but it is inconvenient to work.

    SCADA “Algorithm”:
    Since the seminar, they took quite a bit of time (apparently because this product, well, the system’s very weak point), and I’m not a specialist at SCADA, I’ll tell you very briefly.

    SCADA is designed for Bolid equipment.
    SCADA integrates with Orion workstation (imports data from the database), in principle, when the C2000 console is available, this SCADA can be used as an AWP (even a more advanced version).
    SCADA has an executable client and a web client.

    There is a demo version that works for 40 minutes; it supports one OPC server (if I'm not mistaken, I write from memory). It costs 10,000 rubles per second (this is probably the main advantage) + additional fees for extensions and configurations.

    Afterword:
    The first thing that amused the seminar was that the “Delphi 7” icon proudly shines on the desktop of their computer, which somehow involuntarily suggests that all the software shown during the seminar is written on it. At first glance, all the software products from the Bolid company are not digestible. Yes, and quality decisions lag behind foreign automatic dispatch systems, but the Bolid boasts an affordable price and more or less adequate support.
