Google disables background images in the search

This morning, going to the google search home page was unpleasant news.

I’ve had a photograph of my wife there for two years, and I was very pleased to see her every time I open my favorite search engine. It is unfortunate that soon I will again have to watch a dull white background ...

And so the company explained this decision:

Thank you for using background images. We want the Google homepage to be user-friendly. Therefore, we decided to disable the ability to set your background on this page from November 16, 2012.

Personally, I do not understand such a decision of the company. Perhaps there are not so many users of this function, but someone like me, for example, really liked it and, most importantly, didn’t interfere with others in any way, since the picture was tied to a google account.

Maybe someone knows where you can sign a petition so that this simple but beautiful function is left behind.
