The answer to Friday's question

The answer to our Friday issue under the cut. And for those who still want to guess, here is a picture with a hint of a solution.

    And now the correct answer:

Hanipot (from the English honeypot - a pot of honey, bait), produced under the trade name Symantec Mantrap (English trap for humans). It was used both in corporate networks as part of intrusion detection systems (IDS), as well as for catching viruses on the World Wide Web. More modern versions of the handles and various network sensors are still actively used in the Symantec global analytic network.

It was not easy to determine the winner, but we tried to be as fair as possible.

    • Habrayuzerom to guess the exact answer (Honeypot) became iscsi
    • Nevertheless, there were close in meaning comments from the user 8bitjoey , sounded earlier than others, containing important information for solving the problem and detailing the functionality of this artifact. Therefore, the prize will be divided between these two users.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in our Friday “guessing game” and wish everyone a good working week!

Special thanks to everyone who delighted us with answers about a washing machine, an administrator presence emulator, Google data center, etc. =)

UPD1: at the request of workers a little later, we will write more about this design and how the hanipots work

    Regards,
