Ouya: $ 5 million with Kickstarter is just the beginning

The developers of the "open" Ouya platform, who raised about $ 5 million on Kickstarter (with the requested one), have actually just begun to warm up with money and will continue to search for funds outside the crowdfunding platform, says project head Julie Urman.

“This is a really big deal and it will be expensive,” she said. "We are looking for additional funds, but more importantly, we are looking for them separately from Kickstarter."

Urman is grateful to Kickstarter for the necessary support from both players and developers who are ready to give content to the console. "This is incredible support in which players expressed their enthusiasm for what we are doing in dollars. And their number shows the state of the market." She also added that she hopes to return the games to TV, as recently there has been a shift from gaming consoles to mobile gaming platforms.

"Developers and gamers switched their attention from TV to mobile platforms. Players realized that software and hardware are very expensive, and developers realize that it is very difficult and costly to bring games to living rooms."

Ouya describelike an Android game console for $ 99. One of the main ideas of Ouya will be openness - built to be hacked - the whole concept is based on the fact that in general it is actually a developer kit that every user can learn and use to create peripheral devices, create their own applications, arbitrary modifications, etc. P.

Competitors, however, are not happy to look at its prospects. The head of Tiswaz Entertainent, for example, stated literally the following:

    - It will not go on sale. It just won't be. Developing such a thing is very expensive. Four million dollars is nothing. They need to pay producers. They need to pay designers. They need to bring it to market. This is a business. And 4 million dollars is nothing in it.

What happens if there is not enough money to develop the console? But this, as they say, is already a good question.
