The official VLC for Android appeared on Google Play

Not so long ago, developers of the VLC cross-platform video player celebrated an important event - a billion downloads of the distribution package of the program. This includes downloading the source, as well as downloading the already compiled distribution for Windows and MacOS. Now fans of this player have another reason to celebrate - the official VLC application for Android has appeared on Google Play.

Developers warn that this is a beta version, moreover, unstable. But users who have already managed to test the player claim that the program is fully functional. Now playing video through this player is possible on most Android devices that run Android version 2.1 and higher.

It is worth recalling that the player itself was developed by the student team as an educational project. Now VLC is a very popular player distributed under the GPL.
