The community is ready to revive HP webOS as Phoenix
According to the company's plans, the full source code of the system will be available by September 2012, but now the list of open components allows you to get ready to work on adapting the system to your needs: the Enyo JavaScript framework is open , the Isis project (QtWebKit) , the Nyx project (platform portability layer) - PPL)DB8 (databases), as well as many other components, including the Linux kernel. All of them can be found on the HP Palm Open Source and Open webOS Project .
Having received the minimum necessary for development, the community announced the start of a project supported by third-party developers, not HP. The fact is that the HP webOS team suffers quite noticeable losses - even before the company abandoned the system, the design team leader Matthias Duarte and several colleagues moved to Google, where he became the inspiration and executor of the Holo interfaces (Honeycomb / Ice Cream Sandwich), the Roboto font family and other visual changes to the Android system. Now, the leading developers of the Enyo framework have left the team. They went down Duarte's beaten track on Google. In order to be ready to grab support for the system, independent developers Daniel Giovannetti and Yusif Abdullah launched the Phoenix project, which will provide further support for webOS after the release of the source code. The team is still small, but after Engadget highlighted the project, the Phoenix leaders received a lot of letters with readiness for support.
If there are developers on Habrahabr who are interested in continuing the history of Palm, then they can join its webOS.
