Nokia Lumia 900 detected a bug, each buyer will receive a compensation of $ 100

On April 8, the United States began official sales of Nokia Lumia 900 smartphones with the WP7 operating system on board. Nokia and Microsoft had high hopes for this premiere. Unfortunately for them, the beginning of sales was overshadowed by the news that in the first version of the device there is a software bug, due to which in some cases the connection to the Internet is lost. Nokia explains in a corporate blog that the glitch is due to a software error in memory management, which was discovered immediately after the start of sales.

The company promises that the updated firmware will be released no later than April 16.

A lot of money has been invested in promoting Windows on smartphones. Hundreds of millions have been spent on Nokia Lumia 900 ads alone. Smartphone took several nominations, including “Best Smartphone of 2012” at CES. The device itself even sells for less than cost, for only $ 99.99 with a contract. It would seem that all the conditions have been created for an enchanting launch - and such a misfortune happened.

Trying to rectify the situation, Nokia announced an unprecedented action: to everyone who has already bought the Nokia Lumia 900, the software bug will be compensated by a check for $ 100 (the amount will be transferred to the subscriber’s account with the operator). Moreover, everyone who buys a smartphone before midnight on April 21 (PT) will also receive a similar compensation. Given that the cost of a smartphone is the same one hundred dollars, Nokia will distribute smartphones for almost two weeks almost for free.

It is a pity that the Nokia Lumia 900 is now sold exclusively in the United States from the operator AT&T.
