Already 200 million users with Google Chrome

Probably, this estimate is very approximate, but on Thursday, that is, yesterday, Larry Page announced reaching the mark of 200 million users for the Google Chrome browser. The browser is still considered by many to be “new”, but it is already three years old, so it’s not such a novelty, time is running fast. Now the browser continues to gain popularity, perhaps even faster than ever.

So, in May, 160 million people worked with this browser, which is 40 million more than in December 210, and, accordingly, 40 million less than now. Interestingly, eWeek has long predicted 200 million Chrome users by October of this year.

It is worth noting that Google Chrome already has 15% of the browser market (this data is shown on an interesting infographic, which can be found here), and this share continues to increase. In the UK and some other countries, Google Chrome has already become the second most popular browser, ahead of Mozilla Firefox.

The development of the Google browser is impressive - after all, relatively recently it was one of many alternative browsers, with a market share of less than one percent. Now, it is Chrome that sets the pace of development for Firefox (whose developers even had to speed up the release of new versions of its own product), and IE. Thanks to Chrome, the Mozilla browser switched from the 4th to the 6th version in less than six months. But the 4th version appeared three years after the release of the third "Firefox".
