Security of envelopes with pin codes of VTB24 plastic cards

Recently I ordered 2 plastic cards at VTB24. I received them a week later and in order not to confuse the PIN codes, I put the cards in envelopes with the latter, each in an envelope with the number of this card.

When one of the cards was needed to make it easier to remove, I cut the envelope along and unfolded it completely, pulled out a card and a piece of PIN code.

My attention was attracted by a black shiny rectangle printed on the envelope from the inside. At first I thought that this was an additional protection from viewing the envelope in the light in order to find out the pin code, but later I realized that this application of the coloring matter is identical, probably, to that used to make carbon paper (carbon paper) and is used to print the pin code on a sheet enclosed in an envelope despite the fact that the envelope is sealed.

And I was interested in this coverage by the fact that the pin code of my card was clearly visible on it !

The inscription on the envelope reads approximately as follows: - “The customer bears responsibility for keeping the PIN code secret. Do not tell anyone or share your personal PIN code. ”

I recall how I opened the envelopes of my previous plastic cards. He opened, pulled out a piece of paper with a pin code and threw out the envelope. In those moments, I was not confused by the presence of my address and name on it. And now I will most likely destroy these envelopes in order to avoid possible troubles, which fortunately have already bypassed me and many of those who treat these envelopes in the same way as I do - throw them away.

I reported to VTB24 about this problem. Today I called back, thanked for the information and that it was transmitted "where necessary", but I think that the printing technology will not change soon. And in other banks, most likely, a similar system for printing pin codes is used.

    Be carefull!
