DefCon: 10-year-old girl spoke about 0-day vulnerabilities in games on iOS and Android

CyFiAt the last DefCon conference , a 10-year-old girl under the pseudonym CyFi spoke about the zero-day vulnerability in games on iOS and Android platforms. Independent researchers confirmed that she discovered a new class of vulnerabilities.

A 10-year-old girl from California first discovered this vulnerability in January 2011 because she “started to get bored” by playing games like “Farm Farming”.

It was difficult to progress in the game, it took a lot of time in order to achieve significant results. So CyFi decided: “Why not just change the time?”

She found that in most games there are time-dependent factors. Manually rearranging time on a phone or tablet, she made the game “think” that she had moved much further than she actually was. CyFi has discovered several options for "attack".

She made her report as part of Defcon Kids. AllClearID (a personal data protection company) - sponsor of DefCon Kids, will pay $ 100 for the found vulnerabilities of her mother, as US law prohibits the disclosure of personal information of minors.

It’s scary to imagine what will happen when she opens the Artmoney debugger .
