Electric vehicle manufacturers offer used batteries from cars to use for home

Now more and more electric cars are appearing on the market, and car manufacturers that previously did not pay attention to electric cars, nevertheless begin to produce them - after all, such cars find their consumers. And with the cost of electric vehicles becoming cheaper, more and more people are buying them. But here there is one problem - the recycling of used batteries, which can no longer be used in electric vehicles due to reduced capacity.

We all came across this phenomenon when phones and laptops started to “sit down” after a couple of years of operation much faster than at the very beginning, after the purchase. We do not stand on ceremony with mobile phones - if the model is inexpensive, it goes to a landfill, if more expensive - to the market, to resellers. The same thing happens with laptops.

But what about the spent battery of an electric vehicle? After all, such batteries are still able to accumulate electricity, but not in the volumes that are needed for the normal operation of the car. Nissan and GM offer to use such batteries at home, for different purposes, but with great benefits for the household. So, the battery from an electric car can accumulate a sufficient charge to maintain the operation of many household devices for several hours.

Nissan generally suggests using the batteries from the Leaf electric car in conjunction with solar panels. Such a system makes an apartment or house a little more independent from the power supply system. If there are interruptions in electricity - turn on your "autonomy" and enjoy. There is electricity - turn off.

Similar systems are already being created, and soon we can expect their mass appearance on the market. In general, the idea is not bad - of course, in the CIS countries electric cars themselves are still very rare, if any, but for the EU countries this is a really interesting and beneficial project in many aspects. In any case, batteries unsuitable for use in cars can last for many years, performing other tasks.
