How BlackBerry makes planning and life easier for me

I have been following the tape for a long time on Habré and caught myself thinking that almost all articles, with rare exceptions, are devoted to phones "not with the operating system" that I like most. Yes, Android is good and I admire Google, yes, at one time Nokia was a giant, and no one thought of anything else as a phone, yes, the time has come for “unisex”, be it wrong, and the iPhone’s touch interface, coupled with Apple has won millions of “mobile hearts” around the world with excellent marketing ...
But I'm a “fan,” “maniac,” and “minion” of Research In Motion (RIM).
I agree with the majority opinion that the phones of this company occupy a certain niche, as they say, for a certain circle of people, ranking first of all in this circle: businessmen, office clerks, etc. Believe me, this has not been the case for a very long time. BlackBerry (BB) has ceased to be a business smartphone since RIM released the so-called "youth" model. I will not conduct an excursion to the Hall of Fame, but I will go straight to the point.

In the wake of the heyday, as I call it, of the stress regime at work in the West, and in our country, a trend in time management such as GTD (Getting Things Done) has become fashionable. The Wiki on this occasion broadcasts the following: (Rus. “Bringing things to completion,” however, more often “how to put things in order”) is a time management method created by David Allen and described in the book of the same name. In a nutshell: free your head from what can be placed elsewhere.

Why am I doing this, and to the fact that almost every one of us holds the telephone for a good half of the day, either in our hands or somewhere nearby. Most use the phone for its intended purpose - make calls or call back. But not everyone uses the phone as an advanced organizer, the place where you can put everything, due to the fact that some do not need it, others do not have the opportunity, and still others do not know how to implement it. I suffered from a flurry of calls during rush hour, without having to hang up, I had to answer the calls again and again, losing the thread of the previous conversation, and accordingly missing some important information. For example, a really important meeting next week or the need to send a letter and a heap of all kinds of little things that allow things to not stand still. There was an idea and why, after talking with the subscriber, the phone (in our case BB) cannot offer to take any action - something like a “reminder”? My good friend and "associate" suggested such an opportunity, and later realized. Moreover, by the time this article was being written, the program had grown a considerable amount of skills and knowledge, received a “cut” and turned into simply irreplaceable, for me, at least. So, actually meet - Follow Up Reminder.
The program is not very demanding on the resources of the smartphone, takes up little space in the processes and does not use traffic (precious for many!). The presence of branded services (BIS) is not required for her, so use is possible without them.

My first desire, of course, was to put a million pictures and make a description on three sheets. But, I will limit myself only to the main points that are very important to me. Moreover, the program has a trial period of 7 days and you can study all the charms and settings for free.

The first and most important thing - after a conversation with a subscriber, by the way, it doesn’t matter whether you have it in your address book or not, a dialog box appears asking you to assign any action related to the contact - Meeting, Call, E-Mail, Task call, Task E-Mail, Task from Inbox. The most used function by me is a call, we select it; further we are asked to set the time when to call - within 10 minutes after the call, Today, Tomorrow, Next business day, etc .; choosing the “Tomorrow” program, having polled my calendar of meetings, kindly gives me the opportunity to choose EXACTLY the period of time when I am free. Thus, in order to create a tag (read a note) on the calendar, I literally make 5 clicks with the trackpad, with one finger. You really appreciate this circumstance when you are driving and writing something, typing on the keyboard for a long time (I have a BlackBerry 9780) is simply inadmissible luxury. Oh yes, if someone called you during the period when you were talking, the program will again save the information in the form of a reminder - “Is there no need to do something with this failed conversation?”

The second thing that makes me wildly delight is the end-to-end “stitching” of the “Remind Me” dialogue in all applications. In other words, being on Twitter, I can call the program’s dialogue and put the meeting on the calendar with some contact, timed this meeting to any event that, for example, I learned from Twitter. Moreover, if I have an e-mail address of a contact in my address book, I can immediately send him a letter.

The first versions of the program did not have this feature, and, unfortunately, it was not implemented in the operating system itself — adding a phone number unknown to my address book to an existing contact. Now this function exists and copes with the task perfectly, allowing you to add a number to a contact with a choice - Home, Work, Work 2, etc. The restriction is only on the number of fields in the address book map.

The real help for me is Quick SMS (Quick SMS). Imagine: a meeting, an important call that you don’t want to miss, but you can’t interrupt the interlocutor as well ... We drop the call and the program allows us to quickly, with two clicks, send SMS, the templates of which we previously entered into the settings - “Please forgive me, I am in a meeting. I’ll definitely call you back later. ” Another convenience of Quick SMS is the ability to send them immediately after a call: - Could you send me all the information by e-mail? - Of course, dictate the address! (and here you understand that it is difficult to dictate your address, on the other end the wires are not very well versed in English letters and also “carriage and small cart” obstacles). I’m just throwing away “Fast SMS” (from the template) where several of my addresses are written clearly and without errors. The man on the other end is not waiting, we spend a minimum of effort, and I and he. The same thing with the office address and all that you use every day - the address of your site, the route when moving to the base, current account and much more you can think of.

How important it is sometimes to build a chain of telephone conversations with any of the partners, or just understand: how many calls, at what time, how long. The program can keep a log of calls, recording each of the events in a calendar. Fortunately, you can create several calendars. I use one exactly how the “collector” of the call log, synchronizes with my Google account and is calm that I can always find any call.

This is exactly what I use. This is exactly what I now really need for productive work. This is exactly what allows me to free up space in my head for other tasks, freeing up my time, and sometimes the time of my partners, clients, friends, etc. And yes, I do not use this program 100%. The developer is still introducing new features into the program, releasing all new versions of the program, and he uses it 200%. The fact that the program is being bought among the address buyers ... .... @ apple.com, ... @ rim.com and, of course, “ordinary” users is also encouraging. It saddens me that I don’t use all the functions myself, it saddens me that many people don’t need all the functionality, it saddens me that RIM is so swine to software developers.
This is one of the must have programs on my BlackBerry! And I bet with such functionality there is not a single program on other mobile platforms.
