Do you have all the moves recorded? About GPS Logger

    Three main types of GPS devices can be distinguished:
    GPS navigators - show you where you are or where to go (on a map or just an arrow).
    GPS trackers - which record your route and report it to Where You Need (via GSM).
    GPS loggers - just record the route for further processing.

    What I needed was a logger - to record a route, if necessary - to attach coordinates to photos. Of course, it was possible to put the appropriate program on the phone, but it does not last long from the battery.

    I didn’t particularly choose, I just took what turned up by the arm - it turned out to be the Mobidick i-gotU MA-GPS2 Traveler Route Registrar (aka i-gotU GT-200)

    Equipment

    A box, a cord for connecting to USB, a disk with software and drivers, and the logger itself in a rubber case with a slot for the strap.

    How to use

    Go out into the street, turn it on, put it in your pocket and move to the desired point. The logger lies in your pocket and records the coordinates at a given frequency. The default is 10 seconds, but can be changed. The greater the speed of movement, the less interval should be set.
    At the end of the walk, connect the device to the computer and download the recorded track from there.

    Software

    The trip program is included , which is a client of the website of the same name . Serves for downloading tracks, overlaying them on Google maps, uploading them to your website, assigning coordinates to photos (by shooting time) and for setting up a logger (indicating the interval for recording coordinates).

    As a result, you can see something like this on the site: www.a-trip.com/tracks/view/76737

    Alternative software

    For those who don’t like standard software - they’re used to something else or it doesn’t run under your OS, there is an alternative software called igotu2gpx that exists in versions for windows, linux and macos.

    Maybe :
    export tracks to gpx;
    clean logger memory;
    display logger settings;
    make a logger memory dump
    ; GUi version still displays routes on the map (it seems to load it with openstreetmap).

    It cannot
    change settings. For this, you need to use your own software.
    Work with COM ports above 8. Less than 3 seems to be the same. I tried to hang on COM2 - it did not work, I had to free the ports in the range of 3-8.

    Advantages

    Inexpensive
    There is support (drivers and software got up to Windows 7 x64 without problems, there is software for makos and other Linux (third-party)) A
    completely decent battery, it provides for three days for 10 hours and turned off for the night, (the interval between recordings is 15 seconds )
    Small in size

    disadvantages

    Non-standard computer connection connector
    Native software likes to “optimize” routes and throw out some points.
    It works well on the move, but when standing still for a long time it starts to sausage and gallop around the point of your real location.

    A very large and sensitive disconnect button.
    To avoid accidental outages, I had to make an “upgrade”:

    Alternatives

    In Chinese online stores you can buy GPS loggers at prices from $ 30 to $ 80, some even have good reviews. I might have ordered something from there, but time was running out. Who doesn’t get tired - I advise you to look for options there, maybe you will find something more ergonomic - with mini / microUSB and not such a big button.
