Wii 2 will appear in 2012 - official information from Nintendo

Not so long ago, news appeared on Habré that a new version of the Wii gaming console seems to be coming soon. Now official information has arrived from Nintendo - the company has published a small note saying that yes, the new generation system is indeed planned to be launched in 2012. Currently, about 86 million Nintendo Wii game consoles have been sold since 2006, when the device first appeared on the market.

The company has confirmed that Wii2 will be presented at the E3 show in Los Angeles in June this year. A working version of the system will be presented, plus detailed technical information about the new device. As for the cost of the device, there is no official information yet, however, the same "sources close to the leadership" reported that the cost of Wii2 will be 350-400 US dollars. True, the same "anonymous sources" previously reported on the possible appearance of Wii2 on store shelves as early as October of this year, but, as we see, it did not grow together.

The fact is that the unloading of the devices themselves will actually happen in October, Wii2 is produced in Taiwan, at the notorious Foxconn factories. But here is the “refinement" of the software part, plus the development of games will take a little longer, so the launch date for Wii2 sales will happen in 2012. In addition, Nintendo will try to make the cost of its devices minimal in order to attract more customers.

According to information available from the reputable IGN resource, the Wii2 hardware will be based on the upgraded AMD R700 GPU platform, and not on the AMD Fusion platform, as previously reported. In addition, information is confirmed that the system will support the output of “pictures” in 1080p quality, plus the function of stereoscopic image is added. True, it is not known whether the 3D option, or the basic function.

In general, anyone who likes Wii can already start saving money for a new system that really turns out to be interesting and powerful.
