US students develop eye-guided tablet

In general, such a technology is not something from the realm of fantasy, it is not such a technology and innovative - at different times, different companies offered different solutions of this kind. However, it is not quite common that the tablet, controlled by gaze, was developed not by venerable scientists, but by students from Brigham Young University from the USA.

A team of students has developed a fairly practical device, a tablet, which is completely controlled by the human eye. Such a device can probably be useful to people who have problems with the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, etc. According to the developers, the device is completely controlled by the look, you don’t need to help with your hands (and feet), everything works fine.

The tablet itself runs on Windows 7 and has a built-in eye control system. After turning on, the tablet will require calibration (again, with a glance) to understand the features of its owner. Any application can be used through such a system, from a card game to Skype. The tablet software puts the mouse cursor where you are looking at the moment, and as a command to click on an object, the system perceives blinking (yes, now you have to blink carefully).

Similar systems from other manufacturers cost about 14 thousand dollars, but students have achieved a significant reduction in the cost of the cost of their tablet - only 1,500 dollars. Naturally, this technology can be applied not only to people with disabilities, tablets can be used in all areas of medicine / industry, in games and in the advertising field.
