The first sites appeared in the .xxx domain

According to The Register, on Friday .xxx was added to the domain system of the root DNS servers.

Now you can visit sites such as porn.xxx and  sex.xxx , both of which are so far only placeholders with safe content.

The ICM Registry company, which manages the domain, also made mirrors of its corporate website at icm.xxx and  icmregistry.xxx .

ICM plans to begin in September a limited registration of second-level domains, during which trademark owners will be able to protect their brands. For all users, registration should begin in November.

In addition, it is possible that some sites on premium domains will appear in the next few weeks. ICM can also create a directory of sites on certain common domains, such as porn.xxx , to drive traffic to its customers' sites.

The price of one domain is likely to be about $ 70 per year, 60 of which will be delivered to ICM. Considering that ICM has already received about 600 thousand pre-orders, in the first year the company can earn more than $ 30 million.
