Is there life without Flash?

In recent days, many blogs have been flooded with news about the latest version of the apple device. But this post will not be about him. One way or another, I thought about whether the tablet is convenient to use and what functions it really performs better. The first of the declared benefits is surfing the web. They say that holding the web "in your hands" is really incredibly comfortable and pleasant, and touching the elements of web pages takes the journey through the network to another level.
An important factor that really scares me off the tablet is the lack of normal support for Adobe Flash. One manufacturer completely abandoned it, while others still do not give the same level as desktops. It's very simple, now I turn off Flash

and go through the sites that make up my daily web day. It will be such a philistine little review, so forgive me if I repeat someone’s thoughts.

I'll start with sites in Speed Dial.

    Post office:

    Gmail - no change.

    Blogs:

Habr - here I come across a review of Opera Mini with a video. Movie is not displayed, screenshot above. Despite the fact that the experiment with HTML5 Video is included in the Youtube settings, apparently, this video has not yet been converted. No video. We also skip the video review of the iPad 2. Okay, let's go further.

OMG! Ubuntu - there are no changes on the main page and the main banner is made using Javascript. Nicely. I looked at the posts, everything is fine and usable. Engadget - all is well too. Even more so, the video from Youtube was displayed and lost - it was lucky that the inserted video had already been converted. Facebook

    - and again the video. When viewing the friend’s tape itself, the changes are not noticeable - even videos inserted from Youtube are displayed, as always. And only by clicking on it (when the video itself should be loaded, instead of a static picture) does the inscription “Flash Player upgrade required” appear. Frankly, if on Habré I felt a lack of viewing this or that review, then I rarely watch videos from FB’s friendliness so rarely that I don’t feel any discomfort (perhaps the most fun screenshot).

    News:

    Correspondent.net - everything is fine.

Euronews.net - read - please, but you can’t watch the live broadcast of the channel.

By type of activity, I need to visit the sites of various artists and creative agencies. Here I was in for chagrin.
If agencies already use modern technologies to the full, then artists for some reason really like flash sites with music and moving menus. It turned out that some did not open at all.

    Conclusions:

Despite the fact that as soon as it comes to video, noticeable problems begin. Nevertheless, I did not notice a wild problem in the absence of Flash. The functionality of most sites did not affect the absence of a plug-in, i.e. menus, posts and banners are displayed correctly, which means they are not made on it.
I believed that I had a strong dependence on this technology, but in fact it turned out the other way around. I’m only afraid that all the same it will be an annoying omission when instead of the video it will be necessary to look at the inscription “Plugin unavailable”. Thus, while the full web on tablets does not work.

And what will those who have already used say?
