Scientists from the University of California developed a robot for filling drugs in hospitals

Accidental mistakes by pharmacists can cause a person to die or cause his condition to worsen. Such errors happen more often than we would like (of course, ideally, the complete absence of such errors), and scientists from the University of California, San Francisco decided to completely remove the human factor from the prescription drug for the patient chain. Of course, the doctor who prescribes these same medicines may also be mistaken, but there is nothing to be done. But the robot may well perform the work of a pharmacist in the selection of prescription drugs.

The robot created by the Americans does the work of selecting and mixing various drugs. The machine selects the exact amount of medications the patient needs, packs them, and supplies each medication with instructions and information about the patient. Each medicine package is equipped with a bar code that allows you to verify the correctness of the selected drug.

According to the developers, such a system allows pharmacists to work more efficiently, and the selection of drugs is carried out in a matter of seconds, which significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to select the right drugs. Robot reliability is much higher than that of a human pharmacist. So, the robot has not yet made a single mistake, although it has already prepared 350 thousand different collections of drugs.

By the way, such a system is unlikely to receive recognition in the CIS countries, since its cost is $ 15 million. According to the developers, the system pays off by saving time, which is usually spent on preparing drugs for patients, and by reducing the cost of eliminating problems caused by mistakes of pharmacists.
