YouTube buys online TV company

Yesterday, YouTube executives announced the acquisition of Next New Networks, a web-TV company. The purchase is made to "improve the content of the YouTube service." The acquired startup is based in New York, and has been working for a couple of years, having received sufficient popularity among young people who watch shows and TV shows on the Web.
Next New Networks, according to its representatives, has created a powerful web platform that can serve more than two billion videos, which are popular with 6 million subscribers. In general, a really good startup, perhaps with its integration into the YouTube platform, we will get even more interesting content.
Currently, YouTube executives intend to use the acquired platform to experiment and test innovative technologies. Successful experiments will be used for implementation on YouTube itself. Now, developers plan to continue developing the technology platform for content creators, trying to create more opportunities for publishing quality content by individual users and entire companies.
As in most such cases, the details of the transaction were not disclosed. By the way, the YouTube leadership said it was not going to create content on its own, the Next New Networks platform was acquired in order to provide more opportunities for the creators of video content.
Now, YouTube is trying to improve both the range of functions available to users and the quality of content published by users and publishers on the service.
