2.5-year-old American paid the bills of a non-existent Internet girlfriend

Needless to say, the human factor is a critical element for any security system. Moreover, this factor can be so unpredictable that you are simply amazed - how can you be so careless? Well, it would be about launching .exe in e-mail messages or there in the publication of personal data on the Web. So no, Internet users come across who still believe in winning "$ 1,000,000 of your email address", in the distressed kings and princesses of all kinds of African countries there, who only dream of transferring 50% of their multi-million state to withdrawing this state to another country. But the case that will be discussed in this news is generally out of the ordinary.

According to the Chicago-based Sun-Times, a 48-year-old American has been dating his internet girlfriend for two and a half years, sincerely believing that he has a relationship, albeit virtual, with a real woman. At one point, this man turned to the police because he believed that his girlfriend was kidnapped in London for ransom. In order to confirm the identity of his girlfriend, he provided a printout of a scanned copy of her driver’s license.

As it turned out, the certificate belonged to an ordinary woman from Florida, who did not know, either in a dream or spirit, that her name was used for bad purposes by intruders. And the latter did what they wanted. During these two and a half years, the American transferred 200 thousand US dollars to his “girlfriend”, and to different accounts in different countries, including Nigeria (!). In addition, he sent money to the accounts of banks in Malaysia, England and the United States.

In general, only now the American has learned that he is being led by the nose, and there is no such girlfriend, and cannot be. It seems that the person is not a fool (nevertheless, in order to be able to send 200 thousand US dollars, you need to earn them, right?), But his credulity is surprising ...
