Sony threatens to permanently disconnect gamers from the PlayStation Network for hacking PS3

Yes, Sony representatives officially announced yesterday that gamers will be disconnected from the PlayStation Network for trying to bypass PS3 protection algorithms and launching unauthorized software on this console. I remember that Microsoft somehow turned off several hundred thousand (if not millions) of gamers who hacked the Xbox 360 at the same time. Now Sony is following in the footsteps of its colleagues.

Generally speaking, Sony reacts very harshly to everything related to hacking the PS3 and installing third-party software on these consoles. Apparently, the leadership truly sacredly believed in the impossibility of hacking the console protection system, and the fact of hacking affected the corporation somewhat shockingly. Well, with GeoHot-comrades stilllaw enforcement agencies are sorted out together with representatives of Sony itself, and everyone else rushed into the breach in the console’s defense.

Sony Corporation doesn’t really like all this; legal steps to prevent some users from hacking the console seem to be gone, and now the management has announced that it’s “hacked - we will disconnect you from the PlayStation Network”. In addition, it is reported that “in order to avoid blocking access to the PlayStation Network, customers should immediately stop using and remove all devices for hacking the PS3 security system from the console, erasing all unauthorized or pirated software from their consoles.”

It is worth noting that previously a US court ruled that the jailbreak of iPhones is completely legal, and that may be why Sony does not appeal to the court with a request to prohibit hacking the PS3 in court. Most likely, with such treatment, the court will side with the users.

In general, the situation is developing in an interesting way, so it’s worth following the steps of a corporation that is striving to protect its brainchild from bad hackers at all costs.
