Amazon Kindle Books Selling Better Than Paperback Books

Just six months ago, Amazon announced that Kindle e-books sold better than hardcover books. And yesterday, in the  latest quarterly earnings report , the company announced that e-books outperformed and soft-bound books. This can be considered an important milestone in the publishing industry.

CEO Jeff Bezos said: “Last July, we announced that Kindle books outperformed hardback books and predicted that Kindle would outperform softback books in the second quarter of this year, so this milestone was reached even earlier than we expected “And this is against the backdrop of continued growth in softcover book sales.”

In 2010, 115 Kindle books were sold for every 100 paperback books and three times as many Kindle books than hardcover books. These numbers do not include free Kindle books, which makes them even more impressive. The growing popularity of e-books, as well as good sales of the Kindle 3, have helped Amazon reach $ 10 billion a quarter for the first time in the company's history.
