Appcelerator, known for its Appcelerator Titanium product , has acquired Aptana , which is developing Aptana Studio, an Eclipse-based IDE, Jaxer web server, and cloud hosting services.

Q: How will the Appcelerator Titanium and Aptana Studio be integrated?
A: Appcelerator plans to make a preview of Titanium, integrated with Aptana in March 2011. The preview release will focus on frequently requested features, including JavaScript debugging and auto-completion of code.
Q: Will Aptana Studio remain free (free)?
A: Yes.
Q: Will Aptana Studio become mobile only?
A: No, Appcelerator plans to create a product that will allow six developers to write for three platforms at once: white, desktop and mobile platforms
Q: Will Appcelerator continue to support server-side programming languages (PHP, Ruby / Rails & Python)?
A: Of course. We believe that the development of server applications is an important component for the development of the cloud direction. In more detail, this area will be announced in the 1st quarter.

For Jaxer, the JavaScript server continues to provide technical support. At the moment, Appcelerator is considering the fate of Jaxer and will announce a decision over the next few months. (IMHO, the answer is no)
