Amarok 2.4 Slipstream Released

    Amarok audio player developers introduced version 2.4, code-named "Slipstream."

    This release has significantly improved performance, usability and stability.

    Most of the errors associated with the context panel are fixed, the collection scanner has been completely rewritten. Amarok is now able to record statistics and covers directly into audio files to save information, even if you use multiple devices. Now you can hide the menu bar.

    Users can now connect to the MusicBrainz music library to update song tags. The developers had to remove the Playdar collection, added in the first beta, but after making some changes it will be returned again.

    Among other interesting changes:
    • the ability to use iPod Touch 3G and, possibly, newer devices;
    • conversion of tracks from one format to another;
    • OPML export for podcast subscriptions;
    • display modes of the card and calendar in the applet for tracking upcoming events;
    • Support UPnP collection.
