MultiTouch Ltd introduced the 46-inch CES multi-touch panel

In principle, even the dimensions of the panel are impressive, however, MultiTouch Ltd believes that this panel recognizes any number of simultaneous touches of the surface as its main achievement. Of course, we all know about exaggerations allowed by manufacturers, and “any” number of touches can be limited, for example, 50 or 100. However, the guys from Engadget checked the panel’s performance with their own hands, proving that the panel can recognize more than 40 simultaneous touches (more Engadget simply didn’t find people, and, accordingly, fingers and hands at that moment).
The multitouch technology of a particular panel is based on the recognition of thermal radiation, recognition sensors are built into the back of the panel. This causes some inconvenience - for example, the thickness of such a 46-inch panel is about 30 centimeters. The weight of the panel is not indicated, but it seems that it should be rather big.
By the way, the cost of the panel is also rather big - 17 thousand dollars apiece. Of course, for an individual user, such a little thing is an expensive and useless pleasure, but for a wealthy company the device can be quite useful. This model supports HD-quality video playback, and a detailed test of the device can be viewed on the video at the link below.
