Multi Massive Online Korea

Many people know about the phenomenon of special love for games in Korea. But few who represent its scale. I decided to understand and get to know better this phenomenon on the spot - in Korea. Very handy were plane tickets and accreditation for attending the G-Star exhibition.

I arrived at the airport, as expected, in three hours, passed the registration, checked in my luggage and went to study the contents of the bars. Then a new Boeing was waiting for our group with comfortable wide seats, in the backs of which multimedia systems were mounted. I watched a movie, slept, looked out the porthole - longing. Breakfast to choose from: European or Korean. Foolishly asked the Korean. It was a white watery substance. If you pour something green there, then it also starts to stink. Remained hungry.

Seoul met me with a gigantic phallic sculpture. Delivered.

Then I saw buses that advertised new online games. You can’t meet this with us. These banners are everywhere.

By the way, I want to apologize in advance for the quality of the photos - I shot it on the phone, sometimes upside down. That is why the horizon is littered.
Looking ahead, I will first tell you how the creators of the "line" and Aion work, and then how they relax.

They work a lot. You can say a lot. Three weeks do not leave the office weak? But they don’t. There are even bedrooms at NCsoft that weren’t allowed to take a memorable photo. Someone is always sleeping there. Only girls are allowed to do this. And the male half of employees sleep at jobs on the keyboard.

The fact that they do not appear at home for weeks is not a problem. They work here as families. Children also spend most of their lives here. In the kindergarten at the office. Very comfortably. Less household quarrels and you can save on housing.

They eat in numerous cafes. In the office. For example, on the roof.

Health is also monitored in the office. The gym is so huge that it can accommodate a small army or the entire population of Gibraltar.

I also got to the presentation of the new global update Lineage 2: Goddes of Destruction.

I saw the trailer for Blade & Soul.
And the video of the online shooter Metal Black: Alternative.
With our group at the presentation were journalists from China, Taiwan and Korea. You won’t believe it, but the new Blade & Soul trailer is as high an event for them as for us the removal of an official in connection with the loss of confidence of the president.
In rare moments from work, they, like 30% of the country's population, play in Internet cafes. Their number is unbelievable. About ten times more than in all of Russia. They are everywhere. We were announced the figure of 18,000 in Korea, with half of them located in Seoul.

    image

By the way, here they are called "Pisibans." At the entrance, visitors are often greeted by characters from games. For example, like this Korean, dressed in Mario.

    image

Slippers are necessarily offered inside, because Koreans are able to play for a very long time, and sneakers can cause discomfort. Thus, the administration is simply worried about the health of the clients feet.

    image

They play mainly in common halls, but you can retire in a double booth, as these two girls acted, and do pumping characters.

You can always take a break from the endless hunting for mobs and pvp battles in the relaxation room to read a fresh comic based on your favorite game.

    image

Or look into a souvenir shop and buy a fresh T-shirt with the next MMORPG logo.

    image

In the morning, NCsoft employees take a vigorous step to take their jobs.
On the way you can meet the Eblin brand store.

    image

And motorcyclists, loaders, who certainly ride in plastic bags on their hands.

Is what I saw bad? I think no. The gaming industry is part of the modern culture of South Korea and some other Asian countries. It makes people happy and brings huge profits to the state treasury. The South Korean government creates investment funds, assists developers and publishers, trains specialists, opens specialized schools, establishes departments in higher education institutions and launches television channels. This should be regarded as exotic, but still it would not hurt to adopt some experience. Without fanaticism only.
In the next post I will talk about the G-Star exhibition.
    Stay tuned.
