Remember, in March we talked about the fact that every minute you upload to YouTube more than 24 hours of video? You are clearly not going to stop there! Today every minute 35 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute! It turns out 2100 hours of video every 60 minutes or 50400 hours a day! If you recall that the average duration of a Hollywood movie is 120 minutes, then this corresponds to 176,000 full-length Hollywood films per week. You can also imagine it this way: if the 3 largest American television networks broadcast around the clock for sixty years in a row, they would still not be able to show as much as is uploaded to YouTube every 30 days.

As you can see in the picture, over the past two years, the number of uploads to YouTube has more than doubled. How was this possible? Here are some of the factors that contributed to this:
  • The maximum length of the video downloaded by users increased by 50%, from 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Over the past 2 years, the maximum upload file size has increased more than 10 times and amounted to 2 gigabytes.
  • The possibilities of mobile phones have expanded: now you can upload videos to YouTube much faster and easier.
  • More and more companies support our API, and now you can download videos not only through YouTube.com, but also through other sites. (A great example is the Call of Duty Black Ops game released by Activition. You can record your game and share it with your friends via YouTube)
What can happen in 35 hours? Here are some examples:
  • The insect mayfly has time to be born during this time, reach maturity, grow old and die.
  • You can drive nonstop from YouTube Headquarters in San Bruno, California to Chicago, Illinois.
  • You can fly half the Earth in a balloon .
We know that you have always been able to shoulder our most difficult tasks. How about challenging the world yet another daring challenge? What about 48 hours of video per minute? Yes, yes, you're right - we want every minute of the video to be uploaded to YouTube every minute. This is a 100% increase compared to March 2010.
