Step to the perfect Droidpad - CSL Spice M700
Strictly speaking, if you do not take into account the notorious "Chinese iPads"
However, not everything is so bad at a second glance, and a tablet for Android has been outlined on the market, which is perhaps the best approximation to the ideal “droid pad”.

In September, in Malaysia (which, I recall, is itself one of the major manufacturers of microelectronics in Southeast Asia), sales of the 7-inch droidpad by CSL began.
Briefly about the characteristics:
- Title: CSL Spice M700
- Android OS v2.2 (Froyo)
- Built-in GSM Quadband / GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSDPA module for both access to the Internet and voice communication (over the headset)
- Screen 800 x 480, 7 inches (Capacitive)
- 179.4 x110 x11.5mm
- CPU Qualcomm MSM7227, 600 MHz (ARM9)
- 512MB RAM / 512MB ROM
- Accelerometer for turning pictures and Motion UI
- GPS
- Built-in E-Compass and Ambient Light Sensor
- Two built-in cameras, one 3 MP (autofocus), the other 0.3MP (on the front side of the tablet for video communication)
- Bluetooth (2.1 + EDR)
- WiFi (b / g)
- Battery Li-Pol 3240 mAh
- Standby time (from the documentation): up to 520 hours
- Work time: up to 6 hours
The physical manufacturer of the OEM “platform” is Foxconn, the one that makes as an OEM a lot of different systems and devices for various companies, including iPhone, iPad for Apple, and even, as I recall, some HP servers, so with “ culture of production ”everything is in order here.
CSL plans to sell these devices in the market of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, where it has its presence as a brand of mobile phones. But the same device is offered by Foxconn and other brands for regional sales. Foxconn itself does not plan to sell the platform on its behalf, limiting itself to OEM production for customers such as CSL.
For example, a similar device called Olivepad VT100 intended to start selling in the summer by Olive in India, and under the name Viewsonic Viewpad 7he may appear on the European market.
However, CSL Spice M700, unlike those listed, is already freely available for sale.
Since I am currently in business in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, I had the opportunity the other day to spin this device “live” and get a direct impression.
I really liked the high quality of workmanship, this is not for you rootless Chinese vendors "from an alibaba", there are also such ones here, I held them for comparison. Well what to say. "Penny" is also a machine, in certain conditions. :) For
a short time I myself was the owner of SmartQ V, which, fortunately, I managed to get rid of with a good discount (I hope the new owner liked it more than I did), and swore to contact the “Chinese iPads” in any form. However, here is another matter.
“You pick it up - you shit a thing!”
The tablet is made in a very pleasant “iPhone 4 style” (I don't mean the “one button” that is already starting to get out, like the “translucent mice” that were copied by all the “whales” at one time), that is, a light, metallic frame to the touch with pronounced "edges" around the perimeter, and a smooth black "glass" from the "face" and "rear".
It looks very aesthetically pleasant, it’s even funny to talk about any “backlashes and creaks”. Thing.
On the right is the speaker output. The hole above is a bass reflex. Joke.

Below on the right is microUSB, a headphone jack (3.5 ") or a bundled wired headset, a built-in microphone and a rezet hole.

Above are two buttons and a lockable hatch with SIM and microSD slots.

On the left is a second speaker and a power button.

Inside, the already familiar Android 2.2 Froyo, with the Android Market present.
Despite the fact that the “frequencies” of the processor seem to be low, everything works without visible brakes, everything scrolls, zooms in and “multitraggles” without brakes in the interface, which is primarily striking in contrast to the “Chinese iPads”, which have really trouble.
There is Mobile Tethering (in the store, through the demo pad and its 3G HSDPA, local distribution of the Internet is launched;). The bundled software gives Document to Go and GPS software MapKing (a detailed map of Malaysia, maybe there are others, I haven’t looked). And of course the standard set of GMail, Google Maps, Youtube App, and so on. Since Malaysia is a Muslim country, the set includes programs for orienting to Mecca (using the built-in compass) and an “alarm clock” with time synchronization for daily traditional prayers.
The official page on the CSL website.
A matte film is regularly pasted on the screen, which does not glare, and which does not leave fingerprints (hello, iPad!), Comes with a convenient case in the form of a folder with a mount for the tablet.
From the control on the “face” on the right there are 4 sensory “areas” (back, menu, and so on), pressing on which is marked with a short vibration signal, plus two “hardware” buttons on the top.
The sale began in September, and there are already several videos on Youtube , including the traditional “anboxing” , a story about a software suite and a demonstration of the interface.
Price: 1599 RM (Malaysian ringgit), which roughly corresponds to 515 USD at the current exchange rate, which is pretty good for such a device, in such a rich “bundle”. Here with such a device, you can already, if desired, compare iPad.
Briefly: The iPad has a 7 "vs 9.8" screen, respectively, a lower resolution (800x480 vs 1024x768). CPU 600MHz ARM9-family vs 1GHz ARM11-family.
Next: 3G in the database. You can call as on a regular phone. There is a full microSD expansion slot, the storage capacity of the device can be expanded by the user. Two cameras, one VGA with a “face” for 3G video communication and “skype”. Includes matte film on the screen and case. Uses regular SIM instead of microSIM. Easier, almost twice (410 grams versus 730). Cheaper.
If some questions are not covered, I can answer those who are interested, while there is an opportunity to "twist".
