
UVB-76 station gave the fourth signal in 30 years
The UVB-76 shortwave radio station is located in the village of Povarovo, 40 km northwest of Moscow ( satellite image ). Among radio amateurs around the world, it is known as The Buzzer. Since 1982, it broadcasts continuous noise around the clock at a frequency of 4625 kHz ( link to online broadcast ). The buzzing sound lasts 0.8 seconds, is interrupted for 1-1.3 seconds and is repeated 21-34 times per minute. The destination of the station is unknown.
For all 28 years of broadcasting, only three cases were recorded when a voice message was broadcast. Each time it was a certain encrypted message in Russian. And then on August 23, 2010 it happened again .
