WCG 2010 Belarus - Semifinal

Using the search on the site, I did not find any posts about WCG in Belarus, so I’ll start with the fact that WCG has been held in Belarus since 2004.

I managed to attend this year's WCG not only as a spectator, but also as staff.

The semi-finals were held at the House of Culture of the well-known Tractor Plant (MTZ recreation center):

This year a record number of teams registered at the semi-finals - 120, so the games took place in 2 days. Officially, it all started on July 31, and should end at the end of August 1, but the organization of the event took place from July 30. On July 30, at about 22:00, the first batch of computers and monitors (about 30 pieces) was brought; in total, 50 computers had to be brought. In MTK recreation center, 3 game zones were made:

    1. Tarantul Computer Club (the WCG organizer in Belarus itself), 44 computers were installed:

    2. MTZ recreation center building, 40 computers installed:

    3. MTZ recreation center concert hall, 10 computers installed:

About 11 computers a little later.

WCG organizers held a “casting” and recruited a couple of three volunteers who helped organize the event all night. Immediately a command was given to arrange tables, system units, monitors, and connect keyboards. Yes, mice and headphones were not included in the “set” of the playing place. All computers connected to power, turned on surge protectors. This is where our work began - we began to conduct a local network. All had to connect 50 computers. Two 24-port switches were delivered to the hall, a couple of braids were found from old stocks, they managed to connect 50% of the computers. We connected the rest with a new cable from the bay. After the first start, we did not count 3 diodes on the switch - we went to check, the problem turned out to be commonplace - the veins got out of the connectors. Resized, connected - voila, it works.

At 4 a.m., I managed to get home to sleep. I arrived at 8 in the morning, it was at that time that all teams should come to the MTZ recreation center to register, receive t-shirts and badges:

The start of the games according to the planned schedule began at 8:30. Opening ceremony:

The most striking event on the first day of the semi-finals was the game of 2 women's teams! The girls kept excellent!

Girls played not only among themselves, but with teams of the stronger sex. They donated Counter-Strike 1.6 licensed disks from a WCG partner of the OZ.by online store to all rivals:

On my "table" you can see the camera, which takes pictures of what is happening and shows on the site. The organizer of all this miracle is the first Internet radio in Belarus - Radio Aplus :

In general, the semi-finals went well. There were minimal technical problems: the track crashed (it was decided immediately - the radios were good), 1 computer burned down due to the supply of 380 volts by an unknown method and with it my laptop power supply. Yes, yes, that’s exactly what was shown to us in the tester.

Very soon on August 7-8, the WCG 2010 final will take place at the Capital Shopping Center and with it MISS WCG 2010.

List of teams that qualified for the final:
    • 97club (Minsk)
    • KillGaming (Minsk)
    • hate (Minsk-Baranovichi-Molodechno-Slutsk-Gorki)
    • t21 (Minsk)
    • Club3x / rF
