Video points from the Masterkit

58.40 KBSome time ago I came across an interesting gadget - video glasses from the Masterkit company with the original and intriguing name MT6060.

Two words about the company: as it turned out, Masterkit is known among techies, but not very among geeks (yes, these are different concepts), because its main business is the sale of not finished gadgets, but components and sets (in fact, whales) for, as they would say earlier - ham radio . It is not surprising that my friend, a graduate of LETI, knows them, but the acquaintances of the Habrovsk-Muscovites do not. But recently, Masterkit has also begun to sell gadgets , among which are these glasses. Here I will tell about them.

I got this gadget for a test in an unpretentious box a la second-hand recycled metal. The guys from the Masterkit explained this by the almost pre-production nature of the device. So this is exclusive in every sense: for the time that it lay with me, they have already developed the packaging design and for all subsequent consumers these glasses will already be delivered in a wrap brighter:

    Fitting

Glasses look cool - such a futuristic contraption, although the plastic is a little disappointing - the metal case would have looked "more expensive". But then the effect that they produce on others is super, the closest association is robocop. Just right, to photograph their reflection in them in a mirror and post on a dating contact site on some by- contact . I have such a photo, but I will not venture to put it in the review on Habré :) So we'll get by with the official photos.

There are few wires: two wires are from the “ears” of the in-ear, another one is actually from charging and with a video-audio signal.

On the nose, the glasses sit comfortably, although with prolonged wear, the plastic lining begins to seem harsh and require correcting the glasses on the stiff nose.

The rubber mask, eyeglass overlay, which should protect the eyes from light and other species, delivers more inconvenience. It does not fit tightly to the face, leaving gaps, so after a while I just removed it. In principle, you can watch a video without it - it is only desirable that there is twilight in the room (or in transport), bright sunlight is generally contraindicated to them - it illuminates everything. If in transport - then it is possible, for example, to push the cap deeper, and also the norms.

    Equipment

Complete with glasses are several types of adapters:

    1. mini Jack 4-pin (f) to 3RCA (m)
    2. mini Jack 4-pin (f) to 3RCA (f)
    3. mini Jack 4-pin (f) to mini Jack (m) + mini Jack video (m)
    4. mini Jack 4-pin (f) to mini Jack 4-pin (m)

They are designed to connect to devices that have an AV / TV output, including both regular DVD players and iPods. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity to check on the latter - but there were no problems connecting to DVD players, including portable ones (someone else buys them). Convenient, for example, when traveling.

    Exploitation

Speaking of travel. The charge of a lithium-ion battery, adjusted for the difference between the actual results and the declared ones, should be enough for just one film 2 - 2.5 hours in duration. The declared operating time is 4 hours, the time for a full battery charge is 3 hours.

In principle, these glasses are most suitable for non-standard conditions for watching a video - in line, on transport, lying on your back. (For example, in a train - at night in a compartment, in order not to wake up fellow travelers, you can watch a movie in them.) For large families in a small living space - when someone is already sleeping, but you want to watch a movie or downloaded videos. I remembered, by the way, my hostel in the first courses of the university - I think, then this thing would also be very helpful :)

    Picture

Well and most importantly - the picture that the MT6060 eventually produces. Declared specifications - the effect of a 40-inch screen and a resolution of 640x480. Still, the resolution for such a diagonal, albeit virtual, is not enough. Therefore, the picture quality is like on Youtube before the advent of the HD era. For the screen of a fresh blockbuster or some romkom - just right, but in high quality movies with special effects is better to watch on a more suitable real big screen. But watch videos from the old YouTube - just right.

    Summary

It is unlikely that these glasses will expect great success - the point is both in price and in the fact that 40 inches of the declared “diagonal” do not turn the MT6060 into a replacement for home droids R2D2 and C3PO movie theaters. It is more about an auxiliary solution for mobile devices with large memory, but a small screen. For $ 300 (at least that is the price they have in the online store ) we get a virtual monitor with average characteristics, but with two undoubted advantages: low weight and closeness to others - no matter what you look at, no one is looking at the screen for you will drop by. Well, plus the wow effect, which, as you know, is priceless.
