Guinness. World records. Gamer Bible 2008

Recently, going to a bookstore, I was surprised that I saw on the shelf not one, but two editions of the book of records - the usual and gaming. It turns out that since 2008, Gemeri records are published in the form of a separate book, and not several pages in a regular one. Unfortunately, I did not find any books for 2009 and 2010, but it’s also interesting to look through 2008. The book is quite large, colorful, and of course interesting.

Under the cut some funny facts, a couple of screenshots (though the English version) and a redirect to ozon.

This is what the pages of the book look like (A4 format)

At the end of the book is an alphabetical index of the games, though I doubt that all the games published in the book are listed there. It is interesting that games like Mario are printed several times (if memory serves - 6) times in different categories =)

    So, examples:
    • Franchising brand "Super Mario" was sold in the amount of 145 million pieces and is the best-selling.
    • The creators of the game Halo 3 at the time of development ate about 10 thousand pounds (4500 kg) of pizza.
    • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion includes 35,544 shrubs, 67730 plants and mushrooms, 94013 trees, and 395 696 mountains.
    • The largest virtual beer festival takes place every year in World of Warcraft, when the sworn enemies of the Horde and Alliance gather for Brewfest, which lasts about a week and includes a huge selection of virtual beer for sale.
    • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night contains 1890 rooms.
    • The size of Lara Croft's chest is actually the result of a programming error by designer Toby Gard, who accidentally increased it by 150%. However, the developers liked it, and decided not to fix the error. Also Lara Croft:
      1. The most successful heroine from a video game.
      2. The most recognizable female character in the video game.
      3. The most detailed character of a video game. (character model consisting of 32,816 rendered polygons)
      4. The largest number of real models representing the game (10 people).
      5. The highest additional income from the game.
      6. The most successful film adaptation
    • Alone in the Dark (1992) is considered the world's first 3D survival horror game.
    • The least brutal 3d-shooter is considered Deus Ex (my dearly beloved), which can be completed by killing only three.
    • Sonic the Hedgehog has a limit of 9,999,990, and 23 people have achieved this result.
    • The game Mass Effect contains almost 20 thousand lines of dialogs, which is equal to the total number of lines of dialogs of 20 films.
    • The largest number of games in the series belongs to the Mega Man character - 46 pieces.
    • The largest "land territory" has the game The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, which has 163492 square kilometers.
