Review of free online cinema ivi.ru, sharing with copyright holders

On February 26, Digital Access launched the ivi.ru online cinema , working with copyright holders on the revenue sharing model (sharing advertising revenue between the portal and the copyright holder). Now the portal has posted 9 thousand hours of video.

News about launching the portal on the hub

The portal has a nice design (although the flash slider on the main page will spoil the impression for those who have flashblock enabled). Search on AJAX.

    Site structure
The portal has a three-level structure:
video format (TV Series, Cinema, TV programs, Channels)
categories (Funny, Action, Drama, Music, Animation, Glamor, Hobbies)
    tags

    Movie Watch Page
The player is located on a dark background, it seems to me that this is a good solution. The player itself also makes a good impression - there is a display of high quality video (HQ), full-screen mode, the ability to insert video on other sites. There are no buttons for social bookmarking and publishing on Twitter.

Unfortunately, the navigation in the series has not been finalized. There are two ways to upgrade to a new series. Firstly, by clicking on the list to the right of the player, and secondly, after the movie ends in the player (there is no automatic transition to a new series after the end). In both cases, the series are out of order.

    Content
The main difference between a legal online movie theater and an illegal one is the lack of new products (and as a result of films shot in a movie theater with CamRip quality). The series are exclusively Russian, although fans of Lost, Doctor House, Heroes, and other successful projects of the western series-building industry go to online cinemas for the most part. There are some ancient anime series (Onizuka, Helsing, etc.).
In short, now those who use video rental have the opportunity not to go there. Users of torrent trackers site content will not surprise.

    Advertising
So far, banners on the site advertise only films and programs of the site itself. Let's hope that this is not an advertising move and after six months the portal will not be hung with flash banners like a Christmas tree and every 5 minutes the videos will not be interrupted by annoying commercials with calls to buy a subscription.

    Sortsy
As a result of viewing the sources, the following interesting things were found out:
The developers of the portal neglected the description (page description) and keywords (page keywords) meta tags, but they worried about IE6 support. The site uses liveinternet and Google Analitics visit analytics.

    Summary
I think in the near future a lot of sites that allow you to download online movies will add support for downloading movies from ivi.ru
Also, most likely, the craftsmen will make a desktop player (or add them to existing players, for example intv tuner) for watching movies not through the browser, but through the program (if there is advertising in the videos this will spur the creators of such programs), as well as plugins and modules for various content management systems to quickly insert videos on your website. It would be great if the developers of the portal themselves took care of creating a player and modules for CMS.

Registration (and therefore personal account) is missing. It would be great if she was in the personal account and had the opportunity to note that she looked. In addition, there is no RSS subscription.

Personally, I am pleased with the opportunity to create your absolutely legal online movie theater using movie insert codes ;-)

PS Especially for minusers, I do not support copywriters, I just wrote a startup review specifying the pros and cons in terms of usability and functionality.

UPD. Unfortunately, the site was not ready for the slashdot effect of the news media traffic, from the hub and now and then it falls into a coma and loads videos with impressive brakes.
